Have you ever asked yourself, "Do I really need all these?" after taking a close look at your assortment of hair products? Project Pan, a movement that encourages you to use up every last bit of your cosmetics before purchasing anything new, steps in to help with that. Though the concept seems fantastic in theory, it can easily become depressing, particularly when it comes to hair care. It can be annoying to try to empty bottles and jars that don’t work for your hair.
Imagine battling through a styling cream that just doesn’t work or a conditioner that flattens your hair. Rather than finding satisfaction in every empty container, you may begin to look forward to wash day. The task of finishing the previous products has taken the place of the thrill of using a new one.
I’ll talk about my experience with Project Pan in this post, along with how it changed my mood and how I took care of my hair. These products, which range from out-of-date ones to half-empty jars that I was eager to discard, show why this trend might not always be the best way to maintain your hair (and your mood).
Product | Why it ruined my mood |
Shampoo X | Left my hair feeling greasy despite two washes |
Conditioner Y | Too heavy, weighed down my hair completely |
Hair mask Z | Smelled great but caused a lot of buildup |
Serum A | Made my scalp oily, didn"t help with frizz |
Dry shampoo B | Left white residue and made hair look worse |

Shampoos
For normal to oily hair, Vichy Dercos is really nice; however, it is harsh for the length of hair. I’ll have to do it again to prevent my seborrheic dermatitis from taking control. 🫣 approximately 1400 r.
Once more, the scent and foaming of Insight Professional Rebalansing Sebum control for oily scalp are excellent, but the length is not spared. I won’t say it again. About 1300 r.
Davines OU The ultimate beautifying shampoo for hair that is absolutely beautiful: a beautiful shampoo that costs a horse. I alternate it with harsh shampoos; perhaps I’ll use it again. 🤔 approximately 3100 r.
I haven’t tried the new Time to Grow shampoo-regulator for oily skin and hair in their line yet. About 2100r.
Love, love, Klorane Seboreducteur with nettle. 🤍 It also protects hair, foams beautifully, and cleanses the skin well! Currently my favorite. 129293; Will come again. 🫶 approximately 700r.
Payot Shampoing doux biome-friendly: I bought it on impulse after seeing a deal, but I haven’t tried it yet even though I’ve had it for a while. About 1500 r.
Good shampoo, but not for oily scalps, is Estel Basic Care. Never again. About 300r.
Olaplex No. 4: the densest, most amazing foam. It feels like you’re using whipped cream to wash your hair, but my skin isn’t fond of it and it irritates me. won’t happen again. approximately 3700r.
14,100 rubles in total.
There are so many shampoos that it really irritates me when one more empty jar flies into 129699;. I would like to visit two, if not three, shampoos.
Masks
Davines OI Hair Butter: An oil-butter for hair that is flawlessly beautiful: I mostly use it as a pre-p in conjunction with peeling and additional OI series care. I adore this oil. I’ll reiterate 🫶 ≈ 4500r.
Molecular hair restoration with K18 leave-in mask: I don’t know what it is, I don’t have enough of it on its own, I don’t know if it can be covered with a mask or conditioner, I didn’t notice any amazing effects on my hair, and I won’t repeat. approximately 7000r.
Joico K-pak humidrator intense treatment intense moisturizer: I always reach for it, probably because of its handy packaging, and I use it frequently, but I won’t buy it for this price anymore because there are comparable products that are five times less expensive and just as good. I will not reiterate. approximately 5000r.
Dry hair nourishing mask by Lakme Repair: I want to try to cover Hydra with it in some way because I don’t like it, the smell, or the way my hair looks after it. I will not reiterate. approximately 1700 r.
Well, what can I say? Nothing new. I gave in and repurchased the Kaaral Purify Hydra mask moisturizing mask, but its smell bothers me greatly and, more importantly, it stays on the hair. With this mask, my hair retains the scent of the care products long after they have dried. 🥲 I promise not to repeat it if I find a substitute. About 1600 RUR.
I didn’t understand L’Oreal Professionnel Curl Expression moisturizing mask for curly hair at first, but after using it, I really did. I like the effect, but I won’t wear it again because I tend to overdo things when using products that require effort, even for a minute or two. ≈ 2000 RUB.
Professional L’Oreal To counteract the effects of metal, consider doing a metal detox. Moscow may have good water, but I don’t really see any benefits—it just conditions well, and I don’t like the way it smells. I’m not going to say it again. ≈ 2000 RUB.
For repairing damaged hair, use L’Oreal Professionnel Mask serie expert absolut repair gold mask: I tried this one because I like its sister, even though it’s not gold, but it’s too heavy for my hair. About 1400r. Not tried yet.
I haven’t opened the full-size Alfaparf Milano SDL reparative mask for damaged hair, but it is available. About 2,500 rubles.
27,700 rubles in total.
I came to the realization that I don’t have any absolute favorites and that I always want to try something new while I was explaining the masks! Reaching 4-5 jars—pre-pu, moisturizing, nourishing, restorative, and multifunctional—is my goal.
I would include Davines OI Absolute Beautifying Conditioner in the mask section if butter wasn’t present because I adore it so much. Perfect hair is always seen after the OI line. will be carried out again. 🫶 approximately 3000r.
Olaplex TM 5 conditioner is very mediocre for the price. I won’t say it again. approximately 3600r.
Milano Alfaparf conditioner for smoothing smoothing conditioner: no matter how much I pour, it seems to evaporate and doesn’t provide any conditioning. I won’t say it again. About 1400 r.
8,000 rubles in total.
To properly condition the hair, I would like to have a universal conditioner and a Davines OI series conditioner in this category.
Leave-in products
I was completely confused by Davines Liquid Spell reinforcing bodifying fluid, which makes hair stiff and costs as much as an airplane wing. I’m not going to say it again. Approximately 4800r.
Olaplex No. 6 cream: I can no longer find a solution for it because it got too greasy for my hair. I’m not going to say it again. approximately 3600r.
An extremely intriguing hair cream is L’Oreal Professionel Absolut repair molecular mask for molecular hair restoration. I loved it before I used herbs. My hair stopped making me happy after taking herbs and started to become stiffer. I came to the conclusion that it works best on thin, soft hair from this point on. I’m not sure if I would repeat it now, but I would have before using herbs, but right now I want something that softens my hair. 🤔 approximately 2600 r.
Davines OI multipurpose all-in-one milk: This is already my second can of it, and I use it daily on both my mane and tail. It is incredibly moisturizing and a blessing for thin hair. Without a doubt, there will be another. 🫶 approximately 3300р.
I tried the miniature version of the Evo Head Mistress Cutic Lesealer (travel) cream sealant for split ends, but I’m not sure I like it yet. It makes the ends crispy and makes me want to get closer. I will not reiterate. Around 7000 rubles.
Chroma Absolu Serum Kerastase Chroma Thermique Antioxidant Thermal Serum against Frizz: I’ve come to the conclusion that I dislike the spray form because the product still ends up on my scalp, which gives me a ton of unpleasant feelings that start in my hands and eventually spread to my hair. Although using this liquid spray is inconvenient, I like the effect—especially after coloring with herbs—despite the awful scent, which is comparable to that of hydra. ≈ 3000р. I’ll finish it, but I won’t do it again.
For fine, light hair, use Moroccanoil Treatment light oil: I’ve yet to try it, but I received it as a gift. 🤔 approximately 2000 r.
The FPF 30 Instant Deflate Leave-in Redken Frizz Dismiss Serum for oil smoothing This serum, which also happens to have heat protection, is a good base oil for smoothing out normal to unruly hair. I was ignorant. Since this was one of my first purchases and I only bought it on recommendation, you should pay closer attention to the product descriptions. I’ve since read about it. Talking about repetition is premature because there is still too much of it. 2000 rubles is 🤔.
Olaplex №7 oil: I only used it in conjunction with cream №6, so I won’t be using it again without further testing. About 3600 rubles.
Liquid silk for hair infused with Chi Infra Silk: It seems to dry out my hair, at least mine, I think. I’m not going to say it again. About 600 rubles.
32,500 rubles in total.
The sheer quantity of products is really irksome. I want to focus on three areas going forward: oil, milk, and cream. However, I now have so many jars that they will last for a number of years, and you can even use the oil to fry pancakes.
Ampoule care
A product for nourishing and mineralizing dry hair is Paul Rivera Hydra Dream Mineralizing Treatment: I haven’t made an impression yet because I’ve only used one. 🤔 roughly 4000 RUB.
Amphoule Kaypro Keratin Restorative: I still haven’t even opened it. 🤔 roughly 1800 RUB.
L’Oréal Professionel Absolut repair molecular pre-pu and serum: I actually like the serum and may try using it every time I wash, but I haven’t tried the pre-pu yet. 2600 RUR + ≈ 3400 RUR is 🤔.
Really, this Kaaral Maraes Renew Care Restorative Hair Elixir is a pretty great product. I’ll probably say it again. 🫶 approximately 3000r.
Overall, not bad, not outstanding, but average impressions of Kaaral Purify Filler thickening lotion. I will not reiterate. approximately 3200r.
Olaplex TM3: I’m not sure what this pre-pu is for; perhaps you need to use it frequently. Nevertheless, I’m at a loss for words. 🤔 approximately 9700 radians.
Qtem Color Bomb Cold Botox for Hair: I didn’t enjoy it, and afterward, my hair feels unclean. I will not reiterate. About a thousand rubles.
28,700 rubles in total.
I want to focus on two areas: restoration and intense moisturizing. Once more, I’ll have plenty of reserves.
Styling
Curl Rock and Roll Gel is great for light hold hairstyles, but it’s more for playtime than serious use. I use it sometimes for the curly method. ≈ 1300r.
Davines More inside blow dry primer spray: first of all, it’s a spray, which bothers me. Secondly, it provides shine and volume to hair while shielding it from moisture. Furthermore, I hardly ever use it under styling with a styler because it dries out my hair a lot and leaves it lacking in shine. I won’t say it again, but it feels like hairspray on the hair. About 1100r.
I don’t understand why Aveda Pure Abundance hair potion powder makes hair roots greasy when used to create volume. I’m not going to say it again. About 2,500r.
The Tigi Bed Head manipulator texture paste (texturing hair paste) is a gorgeous gossamer for hair. It gives the impression of being styled right away, and after a few minutes, the hair appears moisturized and elastic. I plan to stick with this styling going forward. 🫶 approximately 2000 r.
6,900 rubles in total.
As I mentioned earlier, I’ll stick to one style and won’t even try anything different. I think Tigi is great. 129293;
Project Pan, the goal of using up all of your hair care supplies before purchasing new ones, seems like a terrific idea—until it doesn’t. The excitement wanes and the frustration sets in as you watch your favorite leave-in conditioner or hair mask run out. You’re left with half-used jars that you don’t love and no opportunity to treat yourself, not a sense of accomplishment. It kills your mood, making you realize how much you miss your favorite products and making you resent having to eat the leftovers.
Samples, miniatures
The GC Hair Professional Deep Cleaning Shampoo mini SHGO has a great format and comes with enough jar to last three uses. I’ll say it again. 🫶 approximately 80 r.
I used to really like the Alfaparf Milano SDL Reparative mask for damaged hair, but eventually I lost interest in it. I’m not going to say it again. About 600r.
Lebel IAU Serum cream fragrance cream for hair smoothing and moisturizing: After using it, my hair looks good, but why is aroma cream used? It appears to have a mild scent. I’ll consider whether or not to purchase a full size. 🤔 approximately 800 r.
Aveda Density Tonic thickening tonic spray: I need to discard this product because I don’t know what it is; it’s just glue that has been sitting around for six months. About 800 r.
I occasionally use Davines The Renaissance Circle restorative mask, but I’m not sure of its effectiveness and it doesn’t condition well, so you have to close it with air conditioning. I will not reiterate. About a thousand rubles.
Hask Keratin protein conditioner: a keratin protein conditioner for silky hair Since I haven’t opened it, I am unable to comment. 🤔 approximately 300 r.
Hask Monoi coconut oil-based nourishing conditioner: Neither have I given it a try. 🤔 approximately 300 r.
3,880 rubles in total.
The ideal format allows you to familiarize yourself with the product before purchasing a full size. I’m going to purchase carefully.
Scalp care
It’s time to grow stimulating polarized lotion for the scalp. After using it, the scalp feels extremely comfortable, but the hair looks instantly greasy and filthy—almost like I used dry shampoo or some other type of plaque. So when I’m done, I’ll probably look for something else. approximately 3700r.
It’s time to apply an active lotion to promote hair growth. My scalp feels great after using it, but I’m not sure if it stains the roots because I used it the day after polarization, so the roots aren’t as fresh. Maybe I should try it by myself. About 5,200 RUR.
It’s time for a "deep cleansing" mask that comes before shampoo. It peels really well, and since I don’t want to look for another one, I’ll definitely use it again when I run out. 129782; P.S. Did you know that it needs to be refrigerated after being opened? Approximately 2800r.
11,700 rubles in total.
Let me just say that everything is fantastic here.) I’ll take a replacement when the jar runs out. Girls, if you could suggest some good products that strengthen roots without having alcohol in them, I would be very appreciative.
Tinting products
I have about 1/4 of the package left of Wells color fresh lilac frost. To whom should I give it? About 1300 r.
Nook Copper Tint Conditioner: almost a complete package that is ready to be given away, and it also takes good care of the hair. About 2400r.
3,700 rubles in total.
Do you know how much in total for everything.
137,180 rubles. and I only counted the items I currently own. I also gave away a number of purchases that did not fit. and hairpieces. Furthermore, none of these July purchases are even a year old.
At first, taking on a Project Pan might seem like a great idea—after all, who wouldn’t want to maximize the use of their hair products and declutter? However, there are instances when it feels more like a chore than an enjoyable task. You might discover that you’re using products that simply don’t work for your hair anymore, or even worse, that you’re forcing yourself to use something you don’t even enjoy.
Although Project Pan has a good idea, it’s important to know when to give up. It’s acceptable to move on from a product if it’s not working for you or if it’s making your hair feel worse. Adhering to something merely because it exists may have negative effects on your mood, confidence, and hair.
Hair care should ultimately feel pleasant. Your daily regimen ought to uplift rather than depress you. Give yourself permission to switch products if you’ve ever found yourself feeling anxious or irritated by them. Ultimately, your hair should receive the best care possible, not just the leftovers.
