A comb as a faithful companion on the way to beautiful hair. Review of my mini-collection of combs

To achieve gorgeous, healthy hair, the right comb can make all the difference. Having the appropriate tool in your hands is crucial, whether your goal is to add volume, detangle without causing damage, or achieve a smooth finish. Though they are sometimes disregarded, combs are essential for maintaining the best possible appearance for your hair.

I’ve accumulated a small collection of combs over the years, each with a specific function. I’ve learned the special advantages of every kind of comb, from wide-toothed ones that help loosen tough knots to finer ones for precise styling. The path to better hair includes learning when to use each comb because they each have something unique to offer.

I want to discuss how my personal mini-collection of combs fits into my daily routine and share it with you in this article. You’ll discover how various combs can be used with various hair types and styles, assisting you in selecting the ideal partner for your personal hair care journey.

More than just a hair tool, a quality comb is essential to having healthy, gorgeous hair. I’ll discuss my personal mini-collection of combs in this post, along with how they can be used for various hair requirements like detangling and styling. When it comes to getting gorgeous hair, the right comb can make all the difference. Choose one with wide teeth for wet hair or fine teeth for sleek finishes.

Olivia Garden FB Combo medium

I won’t arouse suspicion; instead, I’ll get right to the point with something sweet, like my longtime favorite, Olivia Garden.

The world’s greatest comb is this one. Despite my best efforts to avoid it, I could never fully escape it. Mine is seven years old already. It no longer appears brand-new, of course, but considering its age, it still looks good. Not a single tooth that Olivia has had over the past seven years has broken or bent. She never removed color from recently colored hair. My assistant’s body is completely devoid of any signs of age other than scratches and abrasions.

There are three sizes available for the Olivia Garden FB Combo brush: small, medium, and large.

  1. Size S comb has 4 rows and 59 teeth.
  2. Size M comb has 6 rows and 87 teeth.
  3. Size L comb has 8 rows and 112 teeth.

The size of my brush is medium. The most adaptable model is this one, as it can fit hair that is thick or medium-thick. The working part measures 7 cm in width and 12 cm in length. Its length is 14 centimeters. The comb is 27 cm long overall. 92 g in weight.

The combs vary not only in size but also in the kind of bristles; some have a combination of natural bristles and nylon, while others have only nylon. The nylon version is all white, soft teeth with no bristles. The bristles on my brush are combined. Regretfully, precisely what is The bristles are not specified by the manufacturer. These are probably boar bristles.

Rubberized nylon is used to make the base and handle of every comb. matte in look. enduring. The handle bears the words "fingerbrush Olivia Garden," "anti-static," and "nano-ionic" engraved on both sides. The bristle brush terminates in a stiff, circular loop. I’ve always assumed it’s meant to be hung from surfaces. I assumed to pull this loop about a month ago, and when I did, I discovered that it was a unique retractable rod for parting and separating strands.

The brush’s working portion is curved inward to match the contours of the human head. This is really practical. Its sleek design makes it possible to comb through each hair at the roots. The scalp is not scratched by the movable teeth’s rounded heads; instead, stimulation is applied very gently. Additionally, a head massage with one of these combs is even more calming and enjoyable.

The white nylon teeth have balls at the tips. I am aware that a lot of people think poorly of them. However, these balls are as smooth as possible and join to the tooth’s base without creating a step for hairs to stick to. More than anything, they are here for the massage.

I think it’s obvious that the comb is blown. Using it to dry the length is simple. However, because it is too large, it cannot be used to create root volume. Maybe a size S brush will handle this.

Since nylon is a heat-resistant material, you can style it right next to the comb without worrying about damaging it. My observations indicate that the teeth do not even warm up.

How Olivia Garden seemed when she was in my care

My sister told me about this comb. The hairstylist who went to cut my niece’s hair used it. The child’s hair was thick and long at the time. She was only able to comb through the girl’s full thickness of hair with this comb—not even with tears, hysteria, or significant hair loss. Naturally, I was really impressed by this. I had really bad hair loss that year, so I wanted to minimize it as much as possible. Combs that yanked and ripped out hairs that were already clinging with a kind word were not necessary for me. I wanted Olivia Garden Facebook Combo, though.

Concerning the caliber of combing

It can untangle even the most intricately twisted tale in a single motion, handling any knot. I cannot explain this comb’s ability to untangle itself unless a small amount of magic is added during production.

It glides through the hair softly and smoothly, transforming it into a single smooth surface without ripping or tugging. It smoothes the strands rather than electrifying because of the natural bristles. However, you shouldn’t anticipate perfect smoothness because some of the natural beauty will still be present.

Olivia did not make this issue worse when she was most vulnerable. Conversely, because of its delicate nature, the hairs did not break off any longer.

I use it to comb my hair, both wet and dry. It doesn’t stretch wet hair and doesn’t seem to cause any more damage than using your fingers to comb it. Olivia assists in distributing the leave-in products as fairly as possible.

Additionally, drying long hair is incredibly convenient with its assistance. Olivia can swap out a brush with ease.

This brush is perfect. I adore it and am willing to extol its virtues, regardless of how corny they may sound.

About the lone, but noteworthy, drawback

The primary drawback that cannot be overlooked is the dust that actively settles and builds up on the brush. And that dust—to hell with it! This issue is easily resolved with regular washing. It is hard to keep the comb clean!

The deep, convenient location where dust gathers at the base of the natural bristles is so difficult to clean that I used to need to set aside about 20 minutes just to scrape and wash this comb. I bought a special hook brush for cleaning, and then things got a little more exciting.

Pros Cons
Durable Difficult to clean from dust
Long-lasting
Inexpensive
Suitable for the thickest and most unruly hair
Suitable even for brittle hair
Does not tear, pull or break
Does not contribute to breakage or split ends
Does not electrify
Smoothes hair
Suitable for massage
Can be used for combing wet hair
Suitable for blow-drying

Incredible. Fantastic. Unmatched. Olivia Garden has been successful in creating an unachievable bar for herself and other brands. In any case, in my honest opinion.

I love my hair Spider Classic

There was a significant surge in the production of combs approximately five years ago, as the I love my hair brand specializes in this area. Many frequent users of the site still use ILMH combs because they are so very, very good.

The sizes of combs are S, M, and L. The permanent assortment of the brand consists of multiple lines:

  1. Spider Classic
  2. Mermaid
  3. Sense
  4. Prichi children"s brushes
  5. Thermal brush line.

The primary differences between combs from different lines are the quantity, length, and density of bristles. But it’s precisely because of this that they behave differently and work better with various hair types.

I would like to discuss the brush Spider Classir size M, also referred to as Spider. It’s black that I have. One and a half years is the use period.

The length of the spider is 21 cm, and the working part’s width and length are 4 and 11 cm, respectively. 75 g in weight.

The comb is visually appealing: it is well-made, ergonomic, and glossy. Unbroken, without any dents or fractures. Easy to use. enduring. It has not broken in half despite taking multiple blows to the ground. It is a deep black color.

However, it failed the comb holder test because the instrument’s mirror surface was marred by ugly matte stripes. When I saw this disgrace, I became very angry.

Instead of being straight, the handle is anatomically shaped, smoothly curved, and extremely comfortable to hold. The teeth made of nylon are not brittle. According to the manufacturer, the comb contains 366 of them. We’ll believe him on that one; we won’t count them.

There are two teeth in a single hole. One has a white head and is 1.5 cm shorter than the other, which has a red head and is 2 cm longer. There is precisely 0.5 centimeters separating them. Like Olivia’s, the balls at the ends fit precisely into the bristles, preventing the hair from getting trapped in the space between them.

Due to its black hue, dust is always visible as it voluntarily settles in between the bristles. However, cleaning the comb with a brush after coloring is simple. In this case, the special technique in the form of a hook is useless.

Concerning the caliber of combing

The best adjective to describe the combing process is gentle. It glides very gently through the strands, and this is most likely where its primary issue—its inability to untangle the knots—occurs. The teeth become trapped at the tangle’s base and are unable to move further. Here are your two options: either use a more functional comb or use your fingers to untangle the intricate hair weave and carry on combing.

Usually, I go with option number two. I then leave the Spider to massage its head and comb through its slightly tangled hair. And it comes with an incredible massage! As though you went to see the top expert directly from Thailand. Every centimeter of the scalp receives its fair share of pleasure because there are so many teeth. It is quite soothing, particularly in the evening.

I never use the Spider to comb through wet hair because of its poor detangling abilities.

It can be used to dry your hair, but only in cold and warm air. There is a significant chance of harming the bristles because it is not blown.

I think Spider Classic is a nice choice for girls who are indoorsy all the time. This is the type of comb you can use to perform a relaxing beauty routine while seated in front of the mirror. However, you risk severely harming your hair if you use it to comb your hair after being outside. This comb is therefore inappropriate for use in a handbag.

Pros Cons
Durable Not suitable for combing hair on the run
Stylish Not suitable for styling with hot air
Easy to clean and wash
When combing slowly, it works gently
Does not electrify strands
Greatly massages the scalp

Although it’s an excellent choice for relaxing in the evening, this comb isn’t the greatest for quickly detangling hair or combing while on the go.

Janeke Superbrush

Although Janeke has been on the market for a long time, it has only recently gained recognition. The Janeke brand specializes in making hair styling and combing accessories. The Janeke line (yes, that is the proper way to pronounce the name) consists of mini-versions of well-known handbag models, including combs, brushes, combs, and brushings, with teeth composed of both plastic and real bristles. It was fortunate for the Superbrush brush to become the most well-liked.

Every year, models in new colors are added to the Superbrush line of combs, which boasts an extremely broad color palette. It’s true that everyone can find a solution that works for them.

A year and a half ago, I purchased Yaneka 1830 in Rive Gauche. Then, for length, I required a blow-drying comb. I thought this was the best option. Furthermore, it was discounted in the store. In the future, I will state that it can be styled, but with some modifications.

The superbrush measures 21 cm in length, with the working part measuring 11 and 8.5 cm in length, respectively. 85 g in weight.

My teeth are white and my comb is red. When colored hair was constantly combed, the white color of the working part became somewhat yellow and proved to be less useful. It also turned out that the teeth themselves were not very strong and were slightly twisted in all directions, with the side teeth suffering the most. Even so, it was confined to the shelf at home. Plastic is the substance that the comb is composed of.

The teeth are pliable and gentle. Each is 2 cm in length. Although they appear to be solid cast from a distance, closer examination reveals that each one has a barely perceptible "hat." Thankfully, hair does not stick to them because they are extremely smooth.

The brush’s handle and base are joined by two sections. At first, there was a gap between the two sides of one whole, but with time, the joint between them became loose (likely because of falls).

By the way, the handle is incredibly cozy. fashioned like a tongue. The handle’s length was also carefully considered, and it fits the hand’s palm flawlessly.

The manufacturer has the following to say about the blown comb:

Due to the patented structure of the Janeke Curvy honeycomb, hot air is distributed along the hair’s length three times faster and more quickly, giving the hair amazing volume as it dries.

Concerning the caliber of combing

The reason Janeke is so well-liked is not unfounded. It is excellent. Perfectly unravels without tearing or tugging. While some knots will take a little longer to unravel, knots with it separate fairly effectively. Superbrushing should generally be done slowly and deliberately without making abrupt motions. I can use it to safely comb my hair after being outside because of these considerations.

The brush fluffs up a bit but doesn’t electrify.

Concerning hair drying. It is challenging to style thin hair with this brush because of its large size and the big space between its teeth. To put it plainly, the comb ought to catch more hair than I have on my head. Furthermore, it appears absurd to attempt to style the brush only partially—a thin strand is just blown out. And it gets obscured by this shovel’s backdrop. You feel a little bit less than me; please pardon my candor.

I would like to discuss the teeth in more detail. They can scratch someone’s scalp because they are not very soft. I wouldn’t suggest massaging thin or sensitive skin with it. However, it’s a lifesaver for thick and normal skin, particularly when it’s itching. The comb is an excellent way to relieve itching, and you can still feel Janeke’s footsteps a few minutes after using it.

It is simple and quick to wash and dry the brush. The daily cleaning is not hindered in any way. It hardly ever gathers dust, but if you don’t wash it correctly, sebum builds up.

I’ve heard that Superbrush works well for applying conditioners and masks to damp hair. Since too much hair falls out in this manner, I have not personally tried this method. However, I can’t help but point out that this approach is feasible.

Pros Cons
Easy to wash Over time, the teeth bend and become stained
Does not accumulate dust Difficult to dry thin hair
Suitable for drying hair Some may find the teeth sharp
Detangles well
Does not electrify hair
Suitable for combing wet hair
Can be used to distribute masks and conditioners over wet hair

A good, simple comb with a few drawbacks. With it, you can travel the world and arrive at a feast.

Hairway Venge 7-row

Hairway is a German brand that manufactures combs, brushes, scissors, and other professional hairdressing tools. These tools are reasonably priced and have decent quality.

There is leeway with the brand because of its broad scope. I think that not all brush models are successful. Still, there is an option.

I selected a wood-and-natural bristle seven-row round Venge brush for myself. This infant is currently around eight years old. The Venge line has larger brushes, but I needed something smaller for my purse.

There are also wooden models with nylon teeth in the Venge line.

Life has already taken a pretty heavy toll on my copy. It accompanied me to college and high school, living next to my wallet, keys, and nail files as it frequently hopped from my bag to my backpack and back. The brush’s base’s varnish has nicely peeled off. It looked so gloomy that I decided to paint it literally a week ago. But first, I took a picture of its worn-out appearance to preserve it forever. It seems just to show you this, in my opinion.

That’s me; I painted with standard black nail polish.

The outcome is pretty good. The wood texture is apparent, but the color is uniform. Near the bristles, there is a peeling area that needs to be addressed separately with a brush. I’ll take care of this later.

The working part’s width and length are 5 and 8 cm, respectively, and the brush’s length is 17 cm. Comfortably handle with a narrowed base. Boar bristles, most likely. Bristles are 2 cm tall. approximately 75 g in weight.

The comb gathers a lot of dust. VERY. Maybe this is the case with all combs that have natural bristles. Reluctantly, you have to clear out this mess, and you need an assistant hook for that. Since the wooden body is varnished, it withstands the wash with normality.

Concerning the caliber of combing

This brush does not, in my opinion, completely comb the hair. It always only affects the outermost layer; it never penetrates deeper. You must comb through the entire canvas of hair gradually and slowly.

It will smooth rather than comb if you only comb the tops. And it really does smooth it out. All the protruding hairs are expertly tamed by natural bristles, but if you use too many, it may give the appearance that "a cow licked." It’s also ideal for pulling off the trendy slicked ponytail.

Rather than making my hair frizz-prone or electrified, it smooths it down as much as possible. And there seems to be more shine. Moreover, considerably less hair falls out when brushing.

I am aware that hair breakage may be exacerbated by natural bristles. Since I don’t use this comb daily, I haven’t experienced any negative effects.

Pros Cons
Smoothes the hair A lot of dust accumulates
Adds shine Difficult to clean
Compact Does not comb the hair deep
Does not tear the hairs Can lick the roots excessively

It’s not an awful option, but this purse isn’t suitable for everyone. When styling their long hair, girls with extremely thick hair will need to use a very strong comb.

Ikemoto Seduce mini

A well-liked model in our neighborhood, a less expensive equivalent of the luxury Majestic. I didn’t think of Ikemoto as a Majectis substitute, and I wasn’t even aware that it was an analog at the time I bought it. Seeing the familiar image, I grabbed it in the store and hurried to the checkout.

I bought it as an option for carrying with me. As a result, it settled in the glove compartment of the car.

I can’t tell you any more about it than the girls did. I will therefore be brief.

The smaller size is 12 cm, and the larger size is 20 cm. I own a smaller version. Perfect for a purse.

The length of the comb with the handle is 12 cm., the length and width of the working part are 7 and 3 cm. respectively. Seduce mini has 284 flexible nylon bristles. In one hole there is a bunch of 4 bristles: 2 longer with balls at the ends, 2 shorter with an empty flat head. The brush itself is made of durable thermoplastic resin. It will do for such handymen like me, who can"t do anything. The baby"s weight is 100 g.

Seduce has a stunning visual aesthetic. lustrous, glossy, and bright. Even with its shiny exterior, the blue body barely gathers fingerprints. Nevertheless, dust does gather on the bristles. Without it, though, where would you be?

It’s small, but it fits in your hand comfortably. Small and light.

I used to carry it in my purse, and from frequent use with other inmates of this accursed place, scratches and abrasions appeared all over the comb. Though not as lovely as it once was, it still has a certain allure.

Concerning the caliber of combing

I’m reminded of Spider from ILMH by this comb. Like Seduce, Spider was most likely influenced by Majestic. Well, this is inspiring. ))

The comb boasts the exact kind of bristles that make a head massage fantastic. You simply enjoy yourself while ignoring everything around you. Not only is there relaxation, but there’s also great growth stimulation. However, it’s crucial to avoid going overboard here. Short bristles can scratch the scalp because they lack a "fuse" that takes the shape of a cap at the end.

Ikemoto, like the Spider, struggles to deal with knots, but the teeth comb through the full thickness of the hair without any issues. It seems that Japanese women do not seem to get tangled hair (well, not like mine is knotted). They merely don’t require the comb’s functionality. However, I do. This is why I don’t use the brush as enthusiastically in windy conditions.

You can use this comb to wash your hair, according to the manufacturer. I haven’t looked into this. Ikemoto’s hair will just get stuck in the wet roots if he can’t comb it dry, in which case you’ll need to call for help.

As depressing as it may sound, the Heirmaniac classic did not, in general, win me over. My hand does not even come close to it. dull and uninspired. Since it handles this the best, I’ll probably take it out of the car and give myself a head massage. I’ll also get the car something else. I’m looking at it, bye.

Pros Cons
Compact Doesn"t cope with knots
Durable
Attractive
Easy to clean and wash
Doesn"t tear hair
Copes well with scalp massage

It’s not exactly what you need, but it doesn’t seem to be too bad. People who don’t have tangled hair should be grateful for it.

Dewal New Flexi BRZ103

In Russia, Dewal is one of the most popular brands for hair salon equipment and accessories. The products are made in China and are registered in Germany.

You can purchase combs, brushes, hairpins, scissors, paint bowls, clamps, Dewal whisks, and other professional items that are practical for the average user practically anywhere in our expansive marketplace. In my personal experience, I have even seen the brand’s products on the shelves of a nearby supermarket. Is it worth it? Most likely, yes. For example, a good comb is something that many people would like to have, but not everyone is prepared to search professional stores or place an order with specialized iMags. And even fewer are prepared to shell out a large sum of money for it.

With Deval’s extensive product line, reasonable costs, and convenient availability, anyone can take professional-quality care of their hair.

About two years ago, I tried to replace Olivia FB Combo with Dewal New Flexi BRZ103. Warning: it didn’t function.

The comb’s frame is robust but flexible. composed of a soft-touch plastic coating. Does not peel, but is able to scratch. The traditional handle fits comfortably in the hand and has a tapered base and top.

This model is known by its manufacturer as nine-row. But I can count, and 11 rows are shown here. There is a single nylon tooth and several natural bristles surrounding it in one hole. Similar to the other three combs, an oval "hat" is present at the end. Additionally, despite being pressed as closely as possible, the hat and the bristle are not one piece, just like in the three cases before it.

How it gathers dust, oh! It most likely needs to be stored in a unique container. Perfectly clean lovers, you’d better not even glance in its direction.

The blown brush is appropriate—in fact, it’s designed for—hairdryer drying.

Concerning the caliber of combing

The comb was purchased to replace Olivia, as I mentioned earlier. Furthermore, they are strikingly similar. Both are excellent at handling hairdrying, tying knots, and putting fluff down. However, Olivia seems to handle this more easily than Deval, who seems, to me, a little less capable.

The placement of the teeth on the working surface differs between the Dewal New Flexi BRZ103 and Olivia Garden FB Combo. While Deval emphasizes horizontality, Olivia stresses verticality. Olivia’s bristle tips also have slightly bigger balls.

Their drawbacks—difficulty in cleaning and rapid dust accumulation—are identical.

The brush is excellent overall. I’m picky because I recently gave Olivia my entire heart. Deval was consequently moved to my mother’s usage, who has curly hair. She combs her hair with pleasure, clearly very happy with it.

Pros Cons
Durable Difficult to clean
Budget Accumulates a lot of dust
Suitable for blow-drying
Suitable for combing wet hair
Does not damage hair
Does not tear or pull
Untangles knots well
Lightweight

An excellent option for those on a budget for a multipurpose comb that is long-lasting and reliable in times of need.
