Packaging

The balm comes in an opaque black plastic bottle. Even with wet hands, the bottle remains stable and fits comfortably in the hand. It has a sticker on it with the essential details. Color, smell, consistency

As I mentioned before, the balm has a rich, dark brown color and a thick consistency. The balm has an appearance that makes me think of oil paint or thickened gouache for drawing.

The balm smells really nice, sweet, and dessert-like. I can definitely taste hints of chocolate. Sadly, the smell disappears from the hair along with the balm; on dry hair, I detect no scent at all.

My experience of use

During the month of using the tint balm, I managed to try it in different combinations, so I will describe my impressions in chronological order. And first, I will describe the condition of my hair. The hair itself is quite thick, frizzy, with a lot of sticking out along the length. There are gray hairs on the top of the head (mainly along the central parting). The last haircut was six months ago, so the ends have already thinned out quite a bit, and the cut has become somewhat torn and uneven. The last coloring took place 2 months ago, as a result of such a long break, the uneven hair color has washed out, gray hairs are quite noticeable, the grown roots 3-4 cm long are clearly visible.

1st use

For testing, I applied the balm solo to clean, towel-dried hair, left it for 15 minutes. Already when washing it off, I felt that my hair became more voluminous, denser and harder to the touch, requiring leave-in products, which more or less corrected the situation. The positive thing was that the color evened out, the grown roots became less noticeable, gray hair was colored by 40 percent. I also want to note that the hair was simply unrealistically shiny, it looked glossy. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to take a photo that day, so you’ll have to take my word for it. On the second day, the ends felt like they were crunching, despite re-applying the spray to the length and oil to the ends.

2nd use

Literally a couple of days later, I decided to re-apply the balm. I also used it solo, but kept it on for about half an hour.
After washing, the hair was also stiffer and denser than usual, a little tangled, they asked for a double portion of leave-in products. A shock dose of leave-in products did the trick – the hair became untangled, stopped clinging to each other, protruding hairs were smoothed out, the hair was moisturized, the ends became softer and more manageable.
When reapplied, the color became deeper, smoother, the roots were even less noticeable, and almost all gray hairs were visible, at least they were not noticeable.

3rd use

Reviews about using this balm in conjunction with caring balms have come up time and time again. I made the decision to try this usage technique on myself. The test subject for my new restorative balm, "SEVEN" of the "GOLD" series, which contains shea and argan oils along with Dead Sea minerals, was weakened and damaged hair. I cleaned, then applied a mixture of the two products in about equal amounts and waited 15 minutes. For the purpose of testing, I chose not to use leave-in cosmetics.

The hair is thick, voluminous, dry to the touch, and fairly hard after drying. When using the Tinted Balm alone, the color did not take as well. Furthermore, the already-existing issues with the dry, brittle ends got worse. The shine is still present, though.

4th and subsequent applications

As you have probably guessed, I continued my experiments in spite of the appalling outcome. This time, I chose to combine the balm with Bonacure Schwarzkopf’s Moisture Kick Moisturizing Mask, which is my absolute favorite lifesaver. Given how economical and effective the mask is, I chose a ratio of about 2:1 in this case. Ten minutes were spent waiting. and achieved an amazing outcome. Hair is hydrated, supple, flexible, and compliant. The care qualities of the mask combine with the color, sheen, and density that the tint balm provides to create a stylish glossy canvas that plays with color.

The only drawback to this application technique is that, in order to achieve the desired result, we have to apply a very potent mask to the hair roots, which means that we will lose root volume. When hair is freshly washed, it is essentially undetectable, but after two days, it becomes apparent. However, the effect was so striking for me that I’m willing to turn down the volume a little.
