The magic of color dyeing with Qtem Alchemist

A little about direct pigments

The oxidation-reduction process occurring inside the hair is what makes permanent dyes effective. By penetrating the cuticle, the ingredients deposit pigment and chemically alter the hair’s natural shade.

Different behaviors are exhibited by direct dyes. Their job is to work only on the cuticular layer’s surface. These dyes are made up of large molecule compounds. Physical polarization causes them to settle on the hair’s surface because the dye molecules are drawn to the different charges on the hair.

In other words, direct pigments do not alter the true color of hair; they only lighten or darken it. This dye creates a colored layer on the skin in a manner similar to makeup.

The color looks brighter on lighter hair and will only slightly tint darker hair. You must pre-lighten dark hair in order to achieve bright shades.

Direct pigments typically only last up to 10 washes, so you can quickly switch up your look or try different shades to temporarily refresh your appearance.

The porosity and structure of the hair have an impact on the dye’s durability. The color fades fast and entirely from healthy hair with tightly closed scales and normal, low porosity. The durability of such coloring will be greatly increased because the dye molecules will still be able to "deepen" into the cortex layers of the hair, if that is even possible.

Appropriate aftercare is required to preserve the color’s brightness. Using gentle shampoos with a mild washing base is preferable. Additionally, it’s critical to keep an eye on the condition of your hair because damaged hair will not allow the color to "fall through" or lay evenly.

Most of the dyes I came across had a creamy, smooth texture. That’s why I was so intrigued when I came upon a dye in an unusual form—drops.

Based on the scant reviews available, it appears that liquid direct pigments are not very well-liked. I did, however, try the QTEM products at my own risk, and they did not disappoint. I trust the QTEM brand. Looking forward was enjoyable! I’ll talk about my experiences using QTEM’s Alchemist direct pigment drops.

Naturally, I chose red for myself.

Description

Pigment drops are contained in a heavy, dark glass bottle. I think the design echoes the name and is really attractive. A vivid cloud the dye’s color against a black backdrop. Some alchemy and magic.

All the information you need is on the label’s reverse. Conveniently, a pipette is integrated into the lid for administering drops.

The mask’s aroma completely overpowers the neutral scent, which is essentially chemical cosmetics that doesn’t bother the nose.

The actual dye is a rich, dark red liquid.

The color intensifies to a scarlet red when combined with masks, and the same shade is applied to the hair. I can see hints of scarlet, crimson, and pink depending on the lighting and the whims of my phone camera, but my hair still leans slightly pink when it comes to red.

The pigment is incredibly vivid and rich. As a result, the product is utilized extremely sparingly.

Composition

In addition to a number of intriguing and unusual ingredients and pigments that impart color, the composition also includes moisturizing agents and film formers that form a film on the hair and help it retain moisture. In addition to coloring the hair, the dye also conditions it.

Full composition

Aqua, or water Dipropylene glycol, Acetyl Sh-pentapeptide-35, Acetyl Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Propandiol, Palmitamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, Sodium Gluconate, Phenoxyethanol, Etylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Verbascum Thapsus Flowers, Diamond Powder, Xanthan Gum, and Glyceril Caprylate Basic Yellow 87, Basic Red 51.

Method of application

Drops of universal product with direct pigment. They can be applied in different ways to preserve color as well as directly stain.

• As creating a persistent shade:

Combine with oxidant oxyoil (10 vol.%) in a 1:1 ratio. Using a brush, apply the final mixture evenly to the hair and let it sit for five to thirty minutes. Control over vision is necessary. Once you have the desired outcome, use shampoo and water to wash it. Finally, put on a mask or turn on the air conditioning.

• To enhance the shade when staining:

When using permanent hair dye, you can add 10 to 30 drops of pigment per 60 milliliters of dye to intensify the color.

This is important because permanent compositions might not be sufficiently bright when stained in bright shades. Alternatively, if one feels inclined to experiment with halftones, enhancing the shade’s complexity and variety. If you are having trouble finding the right shade in permanent hair dyes, you can create your own by mixing pigment of your desired color into ordinary paint.

Since I don’t use oxidant-based tints or ammonia dyes, I haven’t tried these two techniques.

• To create a shade:

Use a deep cleansing shampoo to wash your hair; do not use a conditioner or a mask. Apply to individual hair strands or to clean, towel-dried hair. Brush, then leave on for five to thirty minutes, based on the intensity of color you want. The product will give your hair a brighter shade the longer you leave it on. After using a gentle shampoo to rinse, apply a nourishing mask.

On a single strand, I tried it. More accurately, I started using it and decided against it.

I don’t have the skills of a professional hairdresser, but I dye my hair at home. Applying liquid dye to hair is incredibly inconvenient as it spreads and stains everything in its path. Furthermore, it is applied unevenly to the hair, and using this method uses a lot of dye. Thus, I found this coloring technique to be inconvenient.

• As a shade maintenance:

To your mask or shampoo, add ten to twenty drops.

Through this process, ordinary hair products are transformed into tint products that will replenish the hair’s pigment, revitalizing the color and lessening the effects of washing out. This seems like the simplest and most practical way to take care of your hair and get a bright color at the same time.

My experience of use

I applied Qtem Alchemist drops to my regular hair care regimen.

It takes 15-20 drops per application—that is, 2-3 pipettes—to keep the color bright. Depending on the mask, the holding period on the hair is typically between five and ten minutes. The brightness of the color is obviously influenced by the holding time; the longer I hold, the more saturated the color is. I’m happy that using this mixture to update the color in just five minutes can achieve the desired results without requiring the hair to be left in place for an extended period of time!

The dye has a very pleasant durability; the color holds up for one to two weeks. I’m not sure how long it will take to wash off or if it will wash out entirely because I prefer brightness and frequently revive the color.

The drops did not have any bad effects on me; my hair did not become stiffer or dry out, and there was no unpleasant smell. I employed a variety of masks and restorative techniques; the masks’ meticulousness is clearly visible. In contrast, Tonika still has a negative effect and dries. Tonika can also be combined with masks without sacrificing color saturation.

Applying with gloves is recommended, as with any other dye, as the mixture stains hands. It can be removed from plumbing with ease.

Now let’s examine the outcomes:

The henna red is clearly visible in the first picture, which shows the hair before coloring, but the color has faded and is not bright. The hair is fragile and thin. In the second image, following dyeing. vibrant and saturated crimson. Hair feels and looks fuller, healthier, stronger, and more radiant.
