Oribe: A brief brand story and the experience of using hair care products: Memories and today

In the world of hair care, Oribe has come to be associated with luxury. The renowned hairstylist Oribe Canales founded the company, which is known for producing high-quality goods that appeal to both professionals and general consumers. Oribe products, which range from shampoos to styling sprays, are renowned for their creative formulas and sophisticated packaging.

Several people who have used Oribe’s line of hair care products frequently talk about the transformational effect they have on their hair. Throughout the years, the brand’s products have made a lasting impression on countless users, whether it be because of their improved shine, soft texture, or feeling of nourishment.

This post will examine the history of the Oribe brand in greater detail as well as how these opulent goods have changed over time to appeal to both contemporary consumers and those with nostalgic tastes.

The story of the creator and brand Oribe

Girls, we enter the past as our yacht pulls into the bay. We go back a few decades in time. We’ve arrived at the island!

1956 saw the birth of our hero, Orbe Canacles, in a seductive cube.

And it was at the Buffalo Cosmetology School in New York in 1977 that we first got to know him.

From 1980 to 1988, Orba started collaborating with the most well-known cult magazines of the day, designing hairstyles for their covers.

He started working with Italian fashion magazines while working in the Garren salon from 1981 to 1986.

1985 will go down as a historic year in our hero’s career. At that point, he will found the agency "Oribe," which will represent well-known makeup artists and stylists like Jimmy Paul, Bobbi Brown, François Nars, Laura Mercier, Danilo, and Serge Normant.

Things will get better. During those years, a momentous occasion will transpire – the launch of his inaugural beauty salon in New York. Star customers and joint ventures won’t keep you waiting. Mr. Canales will start working closely with Gianni Versace and Marc Jacobs.

The nineties are approaching, a time to explore and find your own unique look. His signature look will be that of a strong-willed, contemporary free girl.

Orbe Canales is the photographer of the well-known pictures of the models from those years, Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista. Let’s recall a few well-known pieces from that era:

The maestro will also design the first product line in 1995. It is evident from the design today that they will be made in the retro-chic style.

Our hero will truly like this idea, and this is what will ultimately transpire: Orbe’s friend Karl Lagerfeld will suggest that he make jars in the shape of a detergent.

Canales considers every aspect, even the most minute ones. The scent itself will be distinctive as well, featuring hints of peach, cedar, and bergamot. Orbe saw this fragrance as the epitome of style and luxury.

The product line is expected to achieve great success in the professional and home hair care domains.

Canales will select the logo himself:

Orbe is always involved in the development of new lines and products. For him, the quality of the components, outside variables, and hair type and structure are all significant considerations.

The original line will change with time; it will grow and get a new design. A bottle of high-end perfume and crystal facets will serve as the foundation.

The brand will launch Cote d’Azur perfume soon since the Oribe scent will grow so popular.

Inhaling the scent transports you in your mind to Nice, where you stroll along the Cote d’Azur during the scorching summer months.

The designers intended for the Oribe logo to allude to the German proverb "Hair is a woman’s pride." As such, the center of the "O" will feature a long-haired nymph holding a mirror.

Orbe plans to open a salon in Miami in the upcoming years, where she will work with celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Lopez to create images.

He’ll work with numerous glossy magazines and gain international fame. Young masters will be able to launch their careers through his agency, and the distinctive free style of styling will become recognizable.

The well-known texturizing spray will commemorate its tenth anniversary in 2018. It continues to be a brand cult favorite to this day:

Orbe Canales will gain notoriety for his unique sense of style and creative approach to styling. His work is identifiable by its lavish, sensual styling that hints of chaos and sensuality.

Orbe Canales will depart from us in 2018, but his legacy in the annals of fashion and beauty will endure forever, testament to his enormous and inventive contribution. I only want to discuss him in the future tense, not the past, because his style is still distinctive and can be emulated today.

After learning a little bit about history and touring the world of luxury on several continents, I advise looking back at my most recent experiences and the products I was able to familiarize myself with.

Our boat leaves the American coast behind.

Memories of products

It was during the worst time for my hair that I learned about the brand. They were all subjects of care, coloring, stress, loss, and abhorrent mistreatment in experiments. I believe that maestro Canales would not be pleased with the way my hair looks.

Before using Oribe, I recommend giving a quick rundown of my hair history (in a lighthearted manner). Step back three or four years.

Thus, a "triangle-shaped" haircut in the salon was "successful":

Small "Rat tail":

"Dry Residues" in the Landscape:

"Nedocare" al fresco:

Inside, "And then what was, I fell in love with"

So I turned to Oribe with such a dowry. I chose the treatment on my own and spoke with a consultant because I was looking for a miracle product that would make my hair grow again. I was unaware at the time that hair could be transformed and given a gorgeous appearance regardless of brand by a system that could listen to your hair, choose the right care for it, and pay attention to the environment and weather. Not immediately, either; everything takes time.

Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream for shine

My first purchase was a leave-in cream, which is what I want to start with. It was a birthday present from me to myself. The stores were closed and the fashion virus had just begun. The products could not be tested; I chose them at random. I went with a leave-in conditioner that added shine to my fine hair.

Description from the manufacturer:

Specifically formulated for fine hair, Supershine Light Shine Moisturizing Cream adds softness and shine while offering thermal protection. This moisturizing formula is made for fine hair; it conditions and gets rid of frizz without making the hair seem heavy. extremely light-textured leave-in conditioner. Wet hair and lightly apply a small amount of cream. Either let it air dry or use a hair dryer. During the day, use to hydrate the ends.

Components:

  • soy proteins – protection without feeling heavy
  • complex with extracts of Kalahari melon, lychee and edelweiss – protects hair from external stress, photoaging and destruction of natural keratin in hair layers
  • galanga root extract – provides UV protection
  • keratin derivatives – create a protective shell and protect hair from premature aging
  • amber extract – strengthening properties.

Cream-colored hair could be styled into glossy curls:

My observations:

Very elegant, practical packaging that makes dosing the cream simple. However, the packaging eventually acquires a "crumpled" appearance:

The cream was quite economical and very pleasant to use. It has glitter, but it’s not dense—it’swhite. However, it appears that the glitter in the composition is what gives it its shine. The cream only makes the hair appear better. I experienced some dryness instead of a noticeable improvement in the quality of my hair after prolonged use. The fact that this is a cream with UV and heat protection is a plus.

For healthy hair, this cream is something I could suggest. Shine and gloss will be beautifully added.

Or combined: a richer oil for the ends, Oribe cream, and a decent moisturizing spray. Dry hair and ends don’t pose a threat in this combination. The dry, damaged hair is not removed by the cream by itself.

Supershine Moisturizing cream

Cream characteristics:

Shine Moisturizing Superstar Cream is intended to address the issues associated with medium-hard and coarse hair. Traveling with a compact volume is convenient. The main issues with coarse hair are resolved by the cream: it makes styling easier without adding more compaction, adds shine, and repairs the ends. For intensive care, use a leave-in cream. Apply to wet hair, then use a hairdryer or allow it to air dry.

  • Moringa seed extract – contains vitamins A and C + restores, strengthens, adds shine to hair
  • wheat amino acids – retain moisture and enhance shine
  • protein extracts from plant components – moisturizing + shine
  • natural glycerin – adds volume and shine
  • edelweiss flower extract – powerful protection against damage
  • Kalahari melon extract – protects against external stress and destruction of natural keratin in the hair
  • galanga root extract – provides UV protection.

The cream did not make hair appear as glossy as it did in the prior version:

My observations:

Compared to the previous iteration, the cream is thicker, whiter, creamier, and glitterier. I reasoned that I would purchase this beauty because the lighter version did not fit me well. However, here too, something did not work out. The hair feels nice, the scent is lovely, and applying it is simple, but for some reason, I could not get rid of the impression that the cream only "stayed on the surface" of my hair rather than going all the way through. In addition, it acts as a leave-in cream, protecting hair from heat and UV rays while allowing you to dry your hair without a hair dryer.

It appears that thick hair will benefit more from this option. The cream was too thick and didn’t work as intended on my hair. It was appreciated by a thick-haired friend. Her hair is thick and colored, with a healthy sheen to it. This, I believe, was not my choice.

Curl Control Cream silk cream, Run-through Detangling Primer spray conditioner for easier combing

I think I hit the mark with this combination; it was great. I combined them, so let’s look at them more closely first:

Curl Cream Description:

Even the most stubborn and errant curls can be easily managed with Oribe Curl Control Silkening Crème. The light and airy cream absorbs quickly, reconstructs hair and softens it without straightening it; instead, it highlights the natural texture of the hair. Silk cream for curly hair holds the desired curl shape all day, adds shine, protects and strengthens, and keeps moisture levels stable. It also shapes curls, highlighting their beauty. Because of the ideal equilibrium it establishes between hydration and fixation, curls appear to be woven from silk to the touch. Put on wet hair. utilizing a diffuser, a hair dryer, or your hands to shape.

  • a complex of natural oils – well suited for curly hair – nourishes and moisturizes
  • patented Oribe complex – based on extracts of watermelon, lychee and edelweiss – antioxidant properties, strengthening hair, resisting negative environmental factors, preserving color
  • avocado oil – softens and smoothes, nourishes them at a deep level, starts the regeneration of damaged areas of the hair shaft
  • coconut oil – silkiness, shine, hydration, preventing brittleness and dryness.

Description of Detangling Primer:

Spray conditioner left in for easier hair combing Utilize a unique smoothing formula for Run Through. Conditions and "seals" damage instantaneously. Ideal for all hair types, but particularly for porous and unruly hair. makes hair detangled, smooth, and soft to the touch in preparation for styling. Uses conditioning extracts to create a weightless conditioning spray. Before styling, spray on clean, washed hair to protect and make combing easier.

  • Oribe Signature complex (extracts of watermelon, lychee and edelweiss flower) – protecting hair from oxidation, photoaging and destruction of natural keratin, preventing dryness, damage and fading
  • a mixture of pomegranate, apricot and coconut oils – smoothing the cuticle, making combing easier
  • tropical hibiscus extract – vitamin C, protection against moisture loss, saturating hair with minerals, softening
  • amino acids – restoring the inner keratin layer, making styling easy
  • amla extract – conditioning and moisturizing, shine
  • antistatic complex – helps protect hair from frizz.

Example of hair after using Detangling Primer and Curl Cream together:

In my opinion:

Both products are good-looking, functional, and heat-resistant.

Detangling Primer is a light-colored, lightly emulsified spray with a creamy structure that can be used on its own. It fills in the "porosity," detangles hair effectively, guards against electrification, moisturizes sufficiently, absorbs quickly, and is mild. All of these benefits come without weighing down the hair. Although the spray does a good job, I found that it worked better on my hands before I applied it to my hair. Thus, it was undoubtedly dispersed equally.

Cream for curls: Curl Cream. An excellent choice. Like detangler, it nourishes and moisturizes hair without drying out the ends. It can be applied on the second or third day. The cream is white, glitter-free, and works well with a hair dryer as well as when drying hair naturally in the air. You can achieve curls similar to these by pressing your hair with this cream:

I suggest Curl Control Cream to all curly girls because it works well and is reasonably priced. At a certain point, moisturizing and nourishing qualities. Despite being the most affordable product in the Oribe cream range, it has a 150 ml capacity.

Detangling Primer is a spray conditioner that works wonders on all hair types. It is very affordable, absorbs well, doesn’t weigh down hair, and opens up on any kind of hair.

Their scent is soft and pleasant. The cream tube wrinkles with time, and the detangler bottle’s writing gets erased. That’s the only thing. Other than the cost, these are the only drawbacks.

Polishing agent with thermal protection properties Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream

From the manufacturer:

Polishing cream gives hair smoothness, mobility, and volume while shielding it from the effects of high humidity and temperature. cuts down on styling time, improves manageability, and creates long-lasting style. Up to 450 °C, heat shock proteins offer a high degree of thermal protection. Even thick and wavy hair can have shine and smoothness thanks to a complex of smoothing copolymers. seals split ends and strengthens and restores the structure of hair. A cream-textured product that spreads easily over hair and speeds up the hairdryer drying process. Apply strand by strand to damp hair. For silky smoothness, blow dry. Use a straightening iron to achieve a more refined look.

  • Oribe Signature complex (extracts of Kalahari melon, lychee and edelweiss flower) – protection against brittleness and ultraviolet radiation
  • smoothing copolymers – softening, protection from humidity
  • proteins – protection from damage and overdrying when using hot tools
  • bear"s ear flower extract – softness and shine, smoothing the ends
  • hydrolyzed quinoa – strengthening, protection from damage
  • yacon root juice – (tropical plant, native to Peru) – antioxidant properties + good nutrition.

My emotions:

If I didn’t use a straightening iron or a hair dryer, I can’t figure out why I bought myself a straightening cream. My results were ambiguous, as seen in the picture below:

This is not unexpected, as the cream needs to be applied warmly in order for the composition’s polymers to function and prevent the hair from sticking to it. Generally speaking, I was able to give a styling product that I had foolishly purchased to a friend. Then everything opened up with a straightening iron: frizz control, shiny, silky hair, and hair to hair.

I only have myself to blame for this, along with my limited knowledge at the time. The styling cream should not be used as a creamy leave-in; it is only for styling.

The cream works well, but only for straightening thick, unruly hair with an iron or brush.

Nourishing oil Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil

Description of the oil:

Rich oil "Luxury of gold" made from precious and uncommon plant ingredients. opulent treatment for all hair types, with a focus on colored, damaged, and dry hair. Contains plant complexes, proteins, and bio-restorative ingredients to help smooth the cuticle and increase blood flow to the scalp. Hair oil with a rich scent and an active composition. makes hair gleam. Apply all the way down the length of damp hair. For extra moisture, reapply during the day to the ends of your hair.

  • Oribe Signature complex (extracts of Kalahari melon, lychee and edelweiss flower) – protection against breakage, ultraviolet radiation, oxidation
  • argan oil – light shine and softening
  • jasmine oil – prevents dryness
  • complex of sandalwood, velvet tree bark and barley extracts – protection and restoration
  • currant seed oil – omega-6 and omega-3 acids (moisturize hair and make it stronger)
  • shea butter – vitamin F, moisturizing, softening.

Example of oil-treated hair from two years ago. The curls are twisted into waves and the shine is not as strong, but I prefer it this way:

My assessment:

The oil was appealing to me. It doesn’t weigh down or make the strands greasy because it is relatively light. I attempted to capture the hue of the drop on the tray, but it appears entirely transparent:

The dispenser distributes the appropriate amount and is convenient. One may manipulate and obtain a small amount (as a remedy on the following day or two after cleansing). Rich in composition, the ends are well-cared for. The cut was evened out and there was no breaking while the oil was being used. It is appropriate for second or third day care in a microportion.

However, two things are crucial:

Initially, the oil leaves a subtle sheen. It’s unlikely that Oribe Gold Lust will be your first choice if you require this parameter.

It also possesses the "straightening" quality. It is not appropriate for these uses if you prefer KGM and curls over waves. You run the risk of your curls not holding their shape as well even if you curl them with a curling iron and then apply this oil to them. Apart from that, it’s great.

Foundation Mist styling primer, Signature Moisture Mask

Let’s begin with Foundation Mist, a styling primer, which is our first exhibit.

Description of the manufacturer:

The elite American brand Oribe pleases us with a universal leave-in spray-base for styling – it can be used as a primer at the final stage of hair styling, and instead of a lotion for cutting. The organic composition is impressive: geranium, lavender and chamomile gently nourish the hair structure, giving it a healthy look, green tea extract strengthens the curls, preventing split ends and protecting against the effects of environmental irritants, provitamin B5 softens and strengthens the hair, giving it shape and making it easier to comb, and the complex of vitamins included in the spray gives vitality and shine to the hair. Does not contain alkaloids, parabens or sodium chloride. Spray on both dry and damp hair. UV protection. Spray on damp hair before styling and create a style.

Make-up:

  • geranium extracts – moisturizing, antifungal properties
  • lavender and chamomile extracts – moisturizing
  • green tea extract – strengthening, nourishing
  • cetrimonium chloride – antistatic, facilitates combing
  • other softening components help to detangle hair.

In my view:

The scent of the light-tasting spray is barely perceptible on the hair. Its main characteristic is its weightless texture, which leaves hair silky.

UV protection and outstanding styling memory are two benefits.

Excellent mist spray that leaves hair feeling silky without leaving it greasy at all. It is simple to spray on hair without combing, giving it a fresh coat of UV protection while also moisturizing it. recently made a second purchase.

Using an elastic band, I was able to create the following curls in just two hours:

Let’s move on to the second item, the signature mask.

Description of the mask from the brand:

Hair is a symbol of feminine power and well-being. In spite of fashion, we frequently use products that deplete the structure of our hair of vital moisture. With the help of Oribe’s moisturizing mask, your curls will come to life and acquire the perfect sheen. Its mixture of vegetable oils and extracts effectively restores the structure of each hair, making it a veritable treasure trove. Regular use transforms the length into silk, giving the ends vitality and preventing them from splitting. This is a great maintenance technique that works well on all hair types and brings out the actual beauty in every hair strand.

Make-up:

  • sunflower oil, panthenol – conditioning, moisturizing
  • lychee extract – protects against photoaging and keratin destruction
  • galanga root extract, kaempferia root extract from Southeast Asia – UV protection
  • keratin derivatives – anti-aging protection, strengthening
  • amber extract – strengthening
  • macadamia nut oil – nutrition, smoothness
  • silk glycoprotein – smoothes cuticles, adds shine
  • wild mango oil – shine, easy combing
  • Oribe Signature complex (Kalahari melon, lychee and edelweiss flower extracts) – protection against breakage, ultraviolet radiation, oxidation

In my view:

The mask functions flawlessly, consumes very little, and is of excellent quality. The texture is buttery, but it melts quickly in the warmth of your hands. It is white in color, and the scent is delicate and subdued.

Hair is made silkier not only when wet but also when it has dried. The sensations are like ampoules with extreme power or lamellar water. I tried applying it for two to three minutes after ampoules, and it had a double effect. It was great, and I used it all the way through.

Regarding the packaging, I have a few concerns. The cap is too smooth and flat to be opened with damp hands. It even became looser over time in some way.

Apart from that, the mask is fantastic; it is multifunctional and does everything at once. Everything is excellent, even the price and the cap, so I can’t really find any faults.

After applying the mask and pressing the hair:

Signature Shampoo for daily care

I don’t own a different picture of the shampoo. I purchased it in a small format and used it multiple times.

It is shown in the picture with additional care in a black tube:

Description of the shampoo:

Gentle and delicate cleansing is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about daily scalp care. You can take care of this by using Oribe daily care shampoo. The skin’s condition is positively impacted by its pH balance. Because it doesn’t cause dryness, dandruff, or itching, it’s a great product if you play sports frequently or regularly refresh your hair. There are significant amounts of plant extracts, which have a tonic effect.

Make-up:

  • sulfate-free shampoo
  • contains sweet almond oil, sunflower extract, coconut oil, grain and oat extract – all of them work to improve the condition of the hair, moisturize, nourish
  • Oribe Signature complex (extracts of Kalahari melon, lychee and edelweiss flower) – protection from breakage, ultraviolet radiation, oxidation
  • lychee extract – protection from the effects of oxidizers.

The manufacturer’s listed features of the shampoo are:

– eliminates dead cells efficiently;

– gets rid of extra sweat, sebum, and styling products;

– keeps threads from becoming tangled;

– has a nice texture that transforms into a luxurious foam right away;

– no impact of weighting.

My emotions:

I didn’t like the shampoo, girls. After two to three uses, my hair lost its shine. My hair looked dirty after washing. This is the first time I’ve experienced such an effect; either something didn’t work for me, or I had to switch to other shampoos with a stronger detergent base.

My hair wasn’t in the best condition when I used the shampoo, but I’m still not sure why it acts this way. Maybe instead of keeping my problems hidden like I wanted, it made them even more apparent.

I did not take a picture of this horror, so there won’t be one here.

A short table-guide to creams, sprays and oil

I owned multiple products in the form of oil, cream, and styling products. Since each product has a unique effect, I attempted to draw attention to the primary characteristics that set them apart, making it simpler to choose one for a given purpose or type of hair:

It’s time to move on to the present, hopefully you found my tour of the past interesting.

Present day

Ladies, let’s continue our tour. We begin our day today.

We now discuss my small collection:

I suggest that we wrap up the adventure by discussing a fascinating collection that the New 2023 released before going back to my mini-collar:

I think the collection was a huge success—just look at how many awesome mini and maxi-variants were released:

The brand’s partnership with Japanese artist Kohei Kyomori, who rose to fame for his vivid, unconventional reinterpretation of traditional ornaments and sculptures in a contemporary setting, is responsible for the collection’s unique design.

I have the least fancy pair of two in this series, but they’re still interesting: shampoo and air conditioning for colored hair. My friend introduced me to the shampoo, and I immediately wanted a tiny bottle for myself.

Let’s examine each of them independently and observe how the hair responds.

Shampoo

Description of the shampoo:

Shampoo for colored hair In addition to providing UV protection, Beautiful Color helps to preserve the most vibrant and saturated color. when combing, provides softness and smoothness. Plant-based ingredients for colored hair care: baobab extract keeps moisture in the hair while bioflavonoids shield the color from fading and washing out. An amazing softening shampoo for colored hair maintenance. Traveling with compact packaging is convenient. Apply to wet hair, work up a thick lather, and then rinse with water.

Make-up:

  • Oribe Signature complex (extracts of Kalahari melon, lychee and edelweiss flower) – protection from brittleness, ultraviolet radiation, oxidation
  • bioflavonoids – protection from pigment washing out
  • African baobab extract – moisturizing, protection from overdrying
  • galanga root extract – UV protection
  • rice oil – restorative, protective properties, well suited for fine hair
  • panthenol – soothing and moisturizing effect
  • plant proteins – strengthening hair, restoring its structure.

Conditioner:

Description of the conditioner:

Daily colored curls encounter numerous challenges, including the effects of sunlight, wind, frost, and hot styling tools. Use the Oribe "Magnificence of color" conditioner to protect your hair and a new shade. Rich in organic vitamins and amino acids that successfully rejuvenate and repair curls while fending off oxidation and the appearance of damage.

  • active components and wax derivatives – color protection
  • composition of high-tech weightless silicones – color protection
  • galanga root extract – protection from UV rays and free radicals
  • Oribe Signature complex (extracts of Kalahari melon, lychee and edelweiss flower) – protection against breakage, ultraviolet radiation, oxidation
  • sunflower oil – rich in lipids + protection from aggressive weather factors
  • proteins + keratin – restorative properties.

The conditioner is a creamy white, and the shampoo is a light lemon color:

In my view:

Excellent series. timeless and global. It works well with uncolored hair as well, so colored hair is not required.

The hair is crumbly, smooth, and the ends do not become tangled after using this sulfate-free shampoo that cleans well. If you leave the conditioner on for a little while longer—15 to 20 minutes—it functions as a mask. silky hair. Excellent shine. Even these babies are focused and frugal, and they live a long time.

This combination is, in my opinion, the greatest way to introduce yourself to the brand.

This series gives hair a distinct gloss and smoothness:

The series is ageless and appropriate for special occasions as well as everyday wear.

I also picked up a sample of Gold Lust oil and the Foundation Mist spray mist, which I mentioned earlier because it’s so versatile:

I repeated the mist today, and this is an example of the oil format I have:
