Moisturizing as a basis for caring for porous and colored hair

In order to keep colored and porous hair looking and feeling good, extra care is frequently needed. Proper moisturizing is one of the most crucial steps in the maintenance of this type of hair.

Hair that is porous finds it difficult to hold onto moisture, which results in frizz, dryness, and a lifeless appearance. This is particularly true for colored hair because the coloring procedure can make the natural structure of the hair weaker.

A regular moisturizing regimen is essential to maintain the best possible appearance for porous and colored hair. It smoothes the hair cuticles, helps seal in moisture, and brings back the softness and shine of the hair.

Moisturizing Benefits How to Moisturize Porous and Colored Hair
Improves hair elasticity and prevents breakage Use leave-in conditioners or hair masks
Restores shine and softness Apply hydrating serums to damp hair
Reduces frizz and smooths the cuticle Choose sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners
Prevents color fading Use products specifically designed for colored hair
Protects from environmental damage Incorporate oils like argan or coconut into your routine

Angel Professinal Spa

I could sing odes to this line for eternity; hair becomes (both visibly and tactilely) silky with it. Since there has already been a lot written about these products in earlier posts, I will just restate their key features and benefits.

Acting like a good mask, the undisputed leader is a conditioner. After usage, hair is soft, elastic, thick, and the ends do not crumple or protrude. It sounds great in general, but there is one drawback: regular use oversaturates thin hair, so I only use it three times a week in addition to washing my hair every day.

Two other masks in the Angel Spa line are the nourishing cream and the cream with frozen sea mud. Like the conditioner in their line, they provide hydration and thickening even though they are advertised as nourishing and oily hair masks. They work wonders when combined, so you can eventually live with improper care for a few days without losing the quality of your hair (well, you shouldn’t, but you never know where a windy lady might end up and whether she’ll find something worth using for her hair there).

Ollin Professinal

The pinnacle of the OLLIN brand, or more specifically, its Full Force line of spray and mask with aloe, can be said to be further down my list.

Oh, how long I was looking for a spray that would really moisturize, and not just work on the visual. The two-phase Kapus and Bonacure, so beloved by many girls, did not impress me. Yes, there was visual moisturizing, but I did not get the feeling of “childish”, crumbly hair ..
And then I got my hands on Ollin Full Force spray with aloe. At first, the impression was negative – an unpleasant smell, no visual, does not make combing easier. Having decided to finish off the spray, I began to use it daily, generously pouring it over my hair after washing. And over time, I began to notice that the quality of the canvas had improved significantly. So the outsider became irreplaceable, and was repeated in the second, and then in the third bottle.
What does the spray give? The effect is cumulative, the hair is soft and flowing, shine appears. In addition, with the spray it is impossible overdo it, it does not overload even thin hair. Of the minuses, I can only note the unpleasant soap smell, which does not disappear within a couple of hours. Well, for the sake of the effect you can tolerate, but it really is.

Also settled tightly in my care OLLIN Full Force mask with aloe. Unlike the spray, with the mask everything did not work out so ambiguous. From the first application, there was a certain effect, the hair became elastic, soft. Without “wow”, but not bad. And again, it is worth noting the accumulative effect, after a month and a half, the hair began to delight, the softness did not disappear, the condition of the hair remained the same even between the applications of the mask, in the “conditioning” care. In general, the mask took a leading position, gave excellent moisture. Also, the plus is its affordable cost – 600 r per 650 ml with a fairly small expenditure.

Kaaral Purify Hydra

Unfortunately, Mark Kaaral discovered only recently. Having tried Hydra, Royal Jelly masks for a long time, she was disappointed, not getting an effect. Besides, Hydra dried… But the soul of a hair maniac once asked to test conditioners from the Purify line, and this led to positive results. Now Hydra, Reale and Color conditioners have become part of my care. Kaaral Purify Hydra provides excellent hydration and conditioning. Solo seems too light to me due to the lack of silicones, I like the quality of the hair, but the visuals are disappointing – there is no elasticity and density of the fabric, the hair flies apart at the slightest breeze. As a result, I found a way to "squeeze" the conditioner to the maximum – I apply it after masks for a couple of minutes, I get both the effect of the masks and hydration from Hydra.

Constant delight Hydrobalance

The line, which has been under my care since the early months of moving to a professional, is the next item. Furthermore, its appeal does not diminish in contrast to later acquisitions.

Constant delight Hydrobalance shampoo. Cleanses hair almost "to a squeak", but at the same time sensitive scalp is not irritated, the length does not suffer, the hair does not get tangled. A standard shampoo, but quite good for facilitating care. Constant delight Hydrobalance balm. It was with it that I first “experienced hydration” It makes hair soft, has incredible shine and friability. At that time it seemed to me the best, but over time I realized that it still lacked visuals, hair becomes too light and does not hold its shape. For fine hair, this is not what you need – you have to use multi-layered leave-in care, otherwise the hair seems even thinner. In general, the line is a 4, but considering its cost (a liter for 260 rubles, even cheaper than Kapous), it is quite good.

Because it helps restore lost moisture, smooths the texture of the hair, and stops further damage, moisturizing is crucial for maintaining the health and manageability of porous and colored hair. In spite of the difficulties posed by chemical treatments or naturally porous hair, regular hydration is essential for preserving vibrant color and minimizing frizz while also maintaining soft, robust hair.

Creightons

My top products now include the relatively new professional cosmetics Creightons Coconut & Keratin. I was introduced to this product by my favorite hairmaniac; after reading a few posts, I was impressed and, considering the product’s price (roughly 200 rubles), I concluded it was definitely something I should try. Not at all in vain, as it turned out. Maybe soon, I’ll grow up enough to write a different post about these products.

The shampoo Creightons Coconut&Keratin. Extremely gentle hair cleansing; you can already feel your hair’s softness and friability without using conditioner. My hair adores the creamy texture, and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive scalp. My hair didn’t become oily any quicker; normally, I have clean roots for a day.

Creightons Coconut&Keratin Conditioner. It has a fairly thick consistency, it"s easy to apply, it doesn"t run off my hair with water. The first time I tried to wash it off for a long time, because I didn"t feel the usual silicone smoothness of my hair. Well, I thought, another weak product that needs to be finished off as soon as possible, and I was even upset. But, despite the negative first impressions, after drying my hair began to shine, remained soft, and didn"t get tangled. Thus, there is an effect, even if it doesn"t reach the visual and tactile levels of my favorites. Why did I conclude that the product moisturizes well? For me, there is the following indicator – hair does not need a comb and does not get tangled during the day. Below I attach a photo in just such a situation after the Creightons line. Obviously, the result is quite good, so I am already on my way to try the line with argan

Estel Otium Aqua

And lastly, the moisturizing line from Estel rounds out the list of top brands for rinse-off care. It was also among my initial discoveries regarding hair care; however, to be quite honest, it became less appealing with time, especially in light of the same Angel. I stopped using the shampoo a long time ago because it was so irritating and had such a poor rinse, but I still use the balm and mask on occasion.

Otium Aqua Estel balm. produces a gorgeous visual effect with softness and a cool sheen. The product is not great; in fact, I did not detect any cumulative effect at all. As a drawback, I can also link it to a film that is difficult to remove from hair, which is typical of Estel products because of the high silicone content (or possibly because of the silicones’ quality, but I’m not sure about this). Though I personally won’t be repurchasing the product, it’s generally not bad for starting care.

Otium Estel Aqua Mask. The mask is even more "leave-in," but the effect is the same as with the balm, which is strange. I use it purely for aesthetic effect; I don’t anticipate anything more. Fortunately, I still have a few uses left before I have to say goodbye to it.

Staying properly hydrated is the first step in caring for colored and porous hair. Hair that isn’t getting enough moisture can become brittle, frizzy, and more vulnerable to breakage.

You can keep your hair strong and soft by using hydrating shampoos, conditioners, and treatments. Using heat protection and limiting exposure to harsh styling tools and chemicals are also important.

Frequent moisturizing preserves the vibrancy and health of colored hair. Your hair will feel smoother and more manageable with regular care, making styling and upkeep simpler.
