Kaaral Maraes Lightening Oil – Will Henna Work??

It’s springtime; let the gates open! I made the decision to lighten and bought this well-known lightening oil for myself from my dear Kaaral.

*Many items are out of stock as the Maraes series is currently undergoing a rebranding.

Concerning my hair:

  • thin
  • straight
  • completely non-porous
  • oily at the roots

Lightening and moisturizing hair oil Maraes Nourishing Lightener Oil

Description of the manufacturer

Nourishing Lightener Oil is a two-component product for gradual controlled lightening with a caring effect. Enriched with monoi de Tahiti oil and ammonia-free, it allows you to create lightened strands up to two tones on any type of natural hair. A special complex for lightening with flaxseed and sunflower seed oil, extracts from olive tree leaves and monoi de Tahiti oil, has a nourishing, protective, moisturizing and softening effect on hair during the procedure and allows you to get neat shiny lightened strands in a short time without damaging your hair. Does not contain parabens, ammonia, sodium lauryl sulfate, fragrance-free. When lightening, expecting a certain effect, it is necessary to take into account the lightening background.

It is comprised of two sturdy plastic 200 ml bottles. There was no protective membrane or dispenser included; the cap just unscrews.

I received the bottles in such a plain cardboard box. There are multiple languages in which the key information is presented. Additionally, a warning regarding the necessity of wearing protective gear during the coloring process is present.

The box also indicates the composition. The activator’s hydrogen regurgitation causes the oil to lighten. I’m not surprised at all; something must be at play for it to function. My impression is that regurgitation works less forcefully than ammonia, but it still dries out.

  • Ammonia is one of the key components of many paints. It creates an alkaline environment, which can lead to loosening of the hair shaft cuticle, sometimes irreversibly. The amount of ammonia should not exceed 3.2% of the paint weight. Ammonia contributes to the formation of eczema and dermatitis, is harmful when inhaled.
  • Hydrogen peroxide is the strongest oxidizer of the natural hair pigment – melanin, as well as an oxidizer of paint pigments. Peroxide is similar in its effect to ammonia, but acts more gently and weakly. Peroxide, despite popular belief, is relatively harmless to curls and becomes aggressive for them and skin only if you "go off the scale" with its amount above 12%.

Moisturizing oil:

Oil activator: opaque and white. The mask has a very pleasant consistency. Peroxide, which is present in the composition, is what lightens.

There are no lumps in the mixture; everything blends together flawlessly. Beautifully applied, akin to high-quality paint. It has a very pleasant, slightly viscous consistency overall. I cannot claim that the mixtures "smell" or that they cause your hands to bleed; however, some of the product did get on my bare skin, and it appeared that these areas became slightly lighter.

  2. I want to wash off the henna

Application

Recommendations for use

In a non-metallic container, combine 50 milliliters of lightening oil and 50 milliliters of activator until a uniform cream forms. Apply with your preferred method to dry, unwashed hair. Depending on the desired outcome and the texture of your hair, leave for 5 to 20 minutes.

I mixed by eye because I’m lazy and enjoy trying new things. I’ve completed the coloring twice so far.

  • The first time my task was to lighten the top row of hair a little from the henna — I applied the composition chaotically to the front of the head, about half the length.
  • The second time I wanted specific lightening of the front strands near the face – I applied the composition almost to the roots only on the front strands. The rest of the hair was tied into the tail and anointed as anointed by the remains

In the image, hair follows the initial lightning strike. areas of the camera that are hardly noticeable. Although I am not a technologist and have not used chemical coloring for seven years, I believe that soft tinting on top will look better than this clarification technique, which also leaves the hair feeling empty.

Hair

After the first staining, I used a sooo nutrient nonsense and no mask or balm, so the ends feel pretty dry and the front strands are even more electrified than usual. White points appeared right away! There weren’t any prior to the procedure! The dots vanished once the mask was applied. When the hair is combed back, the effect is always more visible. It appeared to be a naturally occurring ombre.

The ends have this appearance; you can just make out the lighter and henna sections. There is no split in the ends themselves. However, the electrification has just gotten out of control, particularly in the front strands. I’m a little bummed about this, but I’m also lazy; these strands should be easier to manage with more nurturing care. However, providing nourishment will destroy the roots’ purity.

Result

The oil flawlessly lightens! It performed flawlessly. I’m quite happy with it. I intend to keep using it occasionally. Furthermore, lightning intensity decreases with shorter exposure times. And you’ll have a stunning summertime ombre if you lighten the natural base and tint it with vibrant paint! (Take note of this for people who desire brightness but have their own color.)

For mild hair lightening, Kaaral Maraes Lightening Oil is a well-liked option; however, if you’ve ever used henna on your hair, the outcomes may vary. The protective layer that henna applies to the hair shaft may impede the effectiveness of lightening treatments like Kaaral Maraes. This post will discuss the safety and efficacy of using Kaaral Maraes on henna-treated hair as well as the possible results.

P.S. The lighter front strands are visible in the photo I took of my haircut under the lamp.
