My rating of inexpensive hair masks – from worst to best
I adore variety in hair care and frequently experiment with new products, both high-end, professional products and more reasonably priced ones. In addition, if my hair could be made cheaper without sacrificing quality, I wouldn’t mind.
Many girls use only these kinds of cosmetics to grow long hair instead of costly luxury care. Can professional hair color care products be replaced by these jars?
Such stars definitely exist!
I think that masks are the cornerstone of hair care, and I use them a lot. If the foundational care is inadequate, no leave-in product will make hair silky.
These are really cheap masks that I have been purchasing for the last year or so. The majority of the masks fall into the moisturizing care category because that is my primary care direction. I picked masks that are well-liked and have received positive reviews, but my inner hamster is actually quite ravenous for positive feedback.
Sometimes I can’t help but buy a product after reading an enthusiastic description; even with stunning hair photos, the item is instantly added to my wish list. It would be a sin to pass up the chance to purchase the product if it fits your budget and is available right now.
Although the masks were purchased separately, the time has come to gather them all and render a decision.
I give you my personal ranking of inexpensive colored hair masks.
Elongated and delicate, harmed by coloring. Reddened and bleached with the AirTouch method. They adore moisturizing and respond sharply to improper handling, becoming brittle.
If you know which ones to choose, inexpensive hair masks can be surprisingly effective for colored hair. I’ll rank the mass-market hair masks that give shine, protection, and nourishment without going over budget in this post. Affordable options can do wonders when used correctly and consistently, so you don’t have to spend a fortune to keep your colored hair looking healthy and vibrant.
Mask "Golden Silk" Keraplastics
First, let’s address the outsiders. A highly favored mask on one of the review platforms. market success. Markiza gave the mask an average rating on our Hairmaniac website, and this was on henna hair, so I wasn’t even ashamed of this.
This series gave me a balm, which I really enjoyed. The arrangement appears alluring. It appears to have everything that colored hair loves, after all! I purchased the mask after giving in to the alluring promises.
Actually, this mask can’t handle more than one star.
Description
The mask claims to restore hair quickly. The keratin in the mask is intended to adhere the scales and fill in the spaces left by damaged hair.
180 ml for 198 rubles was the purchase price. The price tag in stores varies from 180 to 400 rubles.
Packaging consists of a thick plastic black jar. The labels are vivid and striking, containing numerous eye-catching inscriptions and bold claims. Motley, drawing interest. All things considered, the design is rather lovely; the lilac and gold contrast with the black background.
Pulling the label’s edge on the jar lid will reveal detailed information. Just consider: a tiny-looking jar holding a wealth of information, and the most significant piece is tucked away under the label!
There is a plastic protective membrane underneath the unscrewable lid. Prevents the mask from drying out and leaking fairly consistently; after a few tests, I threw the mask in the far corner and didn’t think about it again until I was writing this post; the mask was undamaged during long-term storage.
However, this membrane is incredibly difficult to use—it lacks a tab, and it takes a lot of work to remove the tightly fitting membrane with wet hands!
- Aroma pleasant, soapy and cosmetic. Does not cause any associations, is not memorable, does not linger on the hair.
- Color white.
- Texture thick creamy, slightly uneven.
Composition
Hydrolyzed keratin, soluble collagen, sodium hyaluronate, citric acid, methylparaben, propylparaben, parfum, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, C11-15 Pareth-7, Laureth-9, glycerin, trideceth-12, PPG-3 Caprylyl Ether, and Amodimethicone
Excellent composition. Hyaluronic acid and fatty alcohols to moisturize. Collagen and keratin hydrolyzed for restoration. Silicone for protection and smoothing. How could something go wrong?
Impressions
I knew right away in the application process that this would not be a successful experience.
It doesn’t wash off your hands easily and has a slippery, silicone-like feel to it, but the mask seems to stay on top of the hair without changing it in any way. smoothes hair but doesn’t detangle it; if you try to run your hand through the strands, it will become stuck. The hair tangled during the washing process.
Hay, as in dried hair. The mask accomplished nothing at all! As though the mask had never been on the hair. My hair was tangled, and the ends were dry. In all its splendor, fragility was revealed.
After two or twenty minutes, there is no change. Long exposure also results in the appearance of a matte coating, rougher-feeling hair, and increased tangles. Although I tried this conditioner without a mask, I can understand why it works better—the conditioner alone provided the hair with all the benefits of care.
I only used it twice or three times, and the devil only recently pulled me back in "to refresh my memories." In all of my hairmaniac history, this was the only occasion when I went straight back to wash my hair again.
It truly baffles me that it has such a high rating. Maybe it smoothes and softens in contrast to having no care at all!? Well, this is insufficient for a sophisticated hairmaniac. I cannot even suggest this mask to people whose hair is intact. Particularly unsuitable for hair that has color.
Bad experience counts as experience too, even though I don’t want to write about failed products. Additionally, I learned from this experience to pay closer attention to reviews.
In order to protect my hair’s ends, I periodically used it before washing it. To be honest though, even in this form, I don’t reach for it to use.
Concept Fusion "Hot Chocolate"
The purpose of the mask is to gently nourish and repair weak, damaged hair. The delightful aroma of chocolate adds to the enjoyment of the care procedures.
Unlike the last mask, this one was purchased with more consideration in an effort to find a low-cost hair thickening and restoration solution. I was so inspired by the review that I failed to consider the differences between my hair type and KATe_RINa’s.
The mask receives two stars, which is justified given its excellent conditioning and delicious chocolate scent!
350 rubles is the purchase price for 450 ml. The price on the market can go up to 600 rubles.
Information
Usually, I don’t notice packaging like this. Had I not been specifically searching for it, I would have gone by. The "mayonnaise" bucket has a foil-covered protective membrane, a translucent lid, and is composed of thin, fragile plastic.
Straight onto the plastic is a pattern of chocolate pieces and a basic garbage design. doesn’t spread or wash off of wet hands over the course of usage.
- Aroma amazing chocolate. Bright, rich, not chemical. Very tasty, appetizing, uplifting. Fills the entire bathroom and, albeit briefly, remains on the hair. Surprisingly, such a bright aroma turned out to be not at all intrusive, does not get boring. Very pleasant.
- Color milky.
- Texture unusual. Completely unusual. I have not seen this in any other mask. Very, very dense and thick. Plasticine. However, it literally melts on damp hair, enveloping the hair with a delicate cream. Not greasy, not silicone.
Composition
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Silicone Quaternium-18, Laureth-3, Trideceth-6, Trideceth-12, Cetrimonium Chloride, Isopropyl Myristate, Polyurethane-39, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Parfum, Hexyl cinnamon, methylchloroisothiazolinone, and methylisothiazolinone
Includes fatty alcohols, hydrogenated castor oil, cocoa extract, and milk proteins, among other conditioning ingredients.
Opinion
The mask effectively smoothes and detangles hair. becomes thicker. "A lot of hair" appearance. However, it doesn’t hide brittleness; the majority of the hair feels dry, the ends are prickly, and white spots appear. does not retain moisture.
I believe it will work well as a basic treatment for long, healthy hair. However, even though the manufacturer states that the mask is meant "for restoring weak, damaged hair," it is obviously ineffective on colored hair.
Despite the fact that the mask lacks any obvious caring qualities, I haven’t once regretted purchasing it. I wasn’t let down because I wasn’t anticipating any amazing results.
I use it as a conditioner to mix with other masks and for pre-pu. This chocolate mask feels like aromatherapy to me. Nobody will remain indifferent to the unforgettable scent!
Although it appears to be discontinued, the mask is still available in certain stores.
Elseve Hyaluron Filler
I need to add more moisture to my hair! Because hyaluronic acid is a component of Elseve Hyaluron Filler Mask, it provides dry and thin hair with intense and lasting moisture.
A description of a wonderfully beautiful lavender jar that is inviting. Generally speaking, I wasn’t very optimistic about it, but after reading Le fleurs de Liliss’ comment, I thought it would be worth a try. I took a long time strolling around it. waited for a good deal and was powerless to refuse.
Description
270 rubles is the price. The mask is available for as much as 1,500 rubles, which is an incredible price range. Frequently, I find that 300 ml costs roughly 500 rubles.
The mask has an extremely pleasing appearance. lovely lilac jar with a silver cover. High-grade, dense plastic. Inscriptions that shimmer and shine. Many intriguing promises.
There is no protective membrane, and the cap unscrews. While this is typical of all products of the L’Oreal concern, which takes ecology into consideration, there is absolutely no protection.
- The aroma is quite bright. Sweetish-creamy and delicately floral at the same time. Does not linger on the hair for a long time, but sometimes such a rich aroma is irritating.
- Color – in the tone of the packaging. The most delicate lavender shade pleases the eye.
- Texture creamy, delicate, not thick. Typically silicone-like to the touch.
Composition
Aqua / Water, Quaternium-87, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Distarch Phosphate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenoxyethanol, Steareth-6, Acetic Acid,Peg-150/Decylalcohol/smdi Copolymer, Peg-100 Stearate, Ci 60730 / Ext. Violet 2, Lactic Acid, Chloride Behentrimonium, Trideceth-10, Trideceth-3, Propylene Glycol, Amodimethicone, Isopropyl Alcohol, Parfum / Fragrance, and Chlorhexidine Digluconate. Z284418/1/F.I.L.
Among the moisturizers are fatty alcohols, lactic and acetic acids, and the anticipated hyaluronic acid. Along with other film formers, the composition includes the silicones dimethicone and amodimethicone. Although isopropyl alcohol is at the bottom of the list and probably serves as an antimicrobial component in this case, its presence may raise questions.
Impressions
The mask resembled Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light 3 Minute Miracle in many aspects. It applies as a noticeable, thick care film to the hair and has the same creamy-silicone texture. It has a similar effect on dry hair.
The mask applies to the hair quickly and easily for a very low cost. covers the hair instantly, smoothing it. Hair "turns into algae." The ends try to curl when wet, which is a surefire indication of well-moisturized hair in my opinion.
The mask works in just two to five minutes. It’s not necessary to wear it for an extended period of time because doing so could weigh down thin hair, cause it to lose its friability, and make it hang like icicles.
Professional masks have spoiled me, so it’s hard to surprise me. Still, the mask worked! The effect of perfectly smooth and whippy hair that is also moisturized is amazing!
The mask hydrates the skin really well! Additionally, it completely detangles the hair without causing any frizz. The hair is incredibly shiny and pleasantly heavy.
Smoothly. Cold style waves fall flat, but there are hardly any typical braid or hairpin creases. You can maintain your hair’s straight and silky texture with the mask. effectively conceals brittleness.
The mask might appear to be perfect. Its composition is unbalanced, though, and the glossy, fashionable appearance is the result of the thick silicones. Overdoing it can have the opposite effect, making your hair brittle and heavier.
Moreover, electrification! Yes, from a moisturizing mask, indeed, static. Although I’m not sure how it occurs, I figure silicone buildup is to blame. But if you mix it with other products and don’t use it too frequently, the mask has a nice effect.
Only slightly less moisturizing than Kaaral Hydra, the ends may become erratic and dry by the second day. However, following this mask, the hair no longer has frizz, baby softness, or lightness; instead, it is elastic and lies nicely, negating the need for additional conditioner.
The mask works well when used in conjunction with a potent, nourishing, and restorative product. ideal supplement to nourishing masks, as the hair would not receive enough care from them alone. Brelil Numero and Etine are two examples. As a conditioner, I use this mask more frequently.
Moisturizing mask "Fresh cosmetics" Olive
Information
The olive mask is designed to hydrate hair while maintaining the natural ingredients’ freshness through vacuum packaging.
The cost to purchase 180 ml for 89 rubles. For some reason, the price on marketplaces is higher than in the closest store, which is about 150 rubles. The least expensive mask I own.
One more jar of "mayonnaise." The plastic is dense and transparent. The identical clear cover.
The packaging is tasteful and draws the eye with its vivid labels in sunny yellow.
The mask is literally canned and packed safely. Similar to a stew can, there is a metal membrane beneath the plastic lid. It will take a lot of effort for lovers with long nails to retrieve the ring. It’s not hard to open, but I was terrified I would cut myself.
The composition and application technique information is concealed at the bottom. Unfortunately, moisture has already started to seep through the label.
- Aroma calm, fresh with herbal notes. Light and unobtrusive, does not remain on the hair. Pleasant.
- Color butter, the same beautiful tasty shade of yellow.
- In terms of texture the mask is also similar to butter – thick and dense in the jar. Delicate, soft and pliable in the hands.
Composition
Aqua, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive Oil), Cetearyl Alcohol, Dried Egg Yolk (Egg Yolk), Distearoylethyl Dimonium Chloride, Glyceryl Stearate, Inulin, Galactoarabinan (Prebiotics), Benzyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex, Sweet, Parfum.
What makes this composition interesting:
- Olive oil
- Egg yolk
- Propolis
- Inulin
- Prebiotics
- Hyaluronic acid
With so many natural advantages and minimal preservatives, the mask has a very short 30-day shelf life after opening. sans silicone.
I did not take a chance, but based on the composition, the mask can be applied to the scalp. Oily nourishing masks are not my skin type.
Opinion
Spread evenly throughout the hair. Consumption is marginally higher than average; the mask appears to be "eaten" by the hair. instantly detangles and smoothes hair. You can sense the hair’s nourishment even when it’s damp; it feels heavier and more voluminous. algae after being cleansed.
After the mask, it seems as though you don’t need conditioner. However, I leave it on my hair for a bit longer than suggested—7–10 minutes as opposed to the suggested 3-5.
The surprise of dried hair was welcome. I didn’t think a penny mask would provide opulent care!
Your hair’s shine and smoothness are the first things that draw your attention. Like cool, silky silk to the touch. somewhat fluffy. The tips are elastic and well-moisturized. They’re already worn out, and no mask will make them feel better. This olive mask worked well.
The fact that none of the effects wear off by day two is extremely noteworthy. Hair retains its softness and elasticity. Not perplexed in the daytime.
Remember that the mask does not provide restoration. Typically, the mask doesn’t guarantee restoration because these ingredients aren’t included in its formula. Alternating and combining with other methods is required.
My thin hair does not show off its volume, and this mask seems to be the perfect affordable option for taking care of damaged ends. However, after using it for a while, I discovered a big drawback, which is why I don’t think this mask is good for finely colored hair.
The olive mask has a discernible loss of color!
No matter how long ago the toning was done, my red quickly loses its brightness and the pigments get washed out with each use of the mask. My hair gets pumpkin-henna shades very quickly, exactly as it appears without the use of direct pigments.
The disadvantage of pigment washing outweighed all the benefits, and even with the mask’s great caring properties and incredibly low cost, I doubt I will use it again.
I’d love to find a less expensive option, but the Olive mask isn’t up to par with expert care.
The excessively short shelf life following opening is another drawback. I use the olive mask in between uses of other products, and I just don’t have enough time in the given amount of time to use it completely.
The Olive mask functions similarly to the Lakme Organic Balance mask. Without frizz and without adding weight, they both nourish and moisturize. Despite having such dissimilar masks, they work together to create a nearly identical visual in the end. But when it comes to color and thicker hair, Lakme is far more cautious.
Compliment Professional souffle mask for extra-moisturizing hair Aqua Line
This mask is relatively new and is starting to gain traction. Based on Sanya’s recommendation, I chose to give it a try.
One more mask to round out my rating. Were you hoping for a five-star review? Unfortunately, the mask missed it. After giving it a lot of trial, I was unsure whether to take away another star. Generally, a minus four.
Description
The ingredients in the mask promise to not only leave the hair feeling nourished and deeply moisturized, but also to keep the moisture locked in, giving the hair elasticity, shine, and smoothness.
The cost to buy is 270 rubles. 300 ml for 250–450 rubles is the price range.
Packaging: a heavy-duty plastic washer. The black and white contrast in the design is a very fashionable combination.
Around the jar’s edge is a wealth of information, including a description, composition, and usage guidelines. Important text is not tucked away in obscure or difficult-to-read places; everything is clear and easy to read.
There is a protective cap underneath the lid membrane, and the lid unscrews. Pulling the tab gently will allow you to remove it.
- Aroma gentle, cosmetic. I feel something powdery-floral. The aroma is not intrusive, does not linger on the hair.
- Color white.
- Texture of the most delicate cream, not thick
Composition
The ingredients of the hydrolyzed corn, wheat, and soy proteins are: aqua, cetearyl alcohol, cetrimonium chloride, glycerin, betaine, amodimethicone, Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf extract, propylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate, parfum, phenoxyethanol, disodium EDTA, citric acid, and BHT.
Aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, fatty alcohols, soy, wheat, and corn proteins, and silicone amodimethicone are among the plant proteins. Based on the ingredients, this hair mask should provide you with both hydration and restoration. Softness, elasticity, and a decrease in brittleness.
The composition resembles that of the Golden Silk Keraplastic mask in certain ways. However, the lack of keratin is the primary distinction. My hair has far better perception of proteins.
Impressions
The mask appears to be absorbed into the hair, filling it from the inside out; the hair literally "eats" the mask. Where the mask is and where more needs to be added are immediately apparent. I need about one to one and a half tablespoons for my length, so the consumption is high.
If you run your hand through your hair while applying the mask, it smoothes and detangles well enough that your fingers hardly slip through it.
I am satisfied with my dry hair overall. They feel silky to the touch and are elastic and soft. hydrated. They have a bright shine. Breakage is essentially nonexistent. Compliment Aqua Line adds density to hair without making it stiff or heavy at the same time. somewhat fluffy.
Not without drawbacks, though. There is no discipline, and I did not like how the ends lay after this mask. Hair strands on their own often become tangled and knotted into tiny knots. The effects of hair loss are evident right away because of how uneven and liquid the cut appears. Leave-in products can help you try to bring out the visual element.
The ends may feel hard, dry, and prickly on the second day. There is still some disparity. Although using conditioner on the most damaged area of the hair helps to control them, the neglect is still noticeable by the second day. Furthermore, not all conditioners are created equal because some may weigh down hair excessively.
I managed to master the Compliment Aqua Line mask even though. I appreciate the restoration’s subtleness and lack of harshness. When used in conjunction with conditioner and alternated with a lipid mask, like Olive, it proves to be a reasonably balanced and appropriate treatment for colored hair.
All of these tambourine dances, however, and the occasionally tangled ends that occur despite best efforts, prevent the Compliment Aqua Line mask from repeating.
Mask Name | Effectiveness for Colored Hair |
Garnier Fructis Hair Food | Moisturizes well, keeps color vibrant, great for dry ends |
L"Oreal Paris Elvive Color Protect | Helps prevent fading, adds shine, affordable option |
Pantene Pro-V Repair & Protect | Strengthens damaged hair, protects against color loss |
Herbal Essences Argan Oil Mask | Deep hydration, color protection, leaves hair soft |
Tresemmé Keratin Smooth Mask | Frizz control, maintains color, smoothes hair texture |
For colored hair, inexpensive hair masks can be a great choice because they provide protection, hydration, and nourishment without going over budget. Applying them regularly can still improve the texture and appearance of hair, even though they might not have the same long-term effects as high-end products.
In my experience, a lot of mass-market masks work surprisingly well, particularly for routine maintenance like shine and detangling. It all comes down to selecting the ideal product for the unique requirements of your hair.
In the end, inexpensive need not equate to ineffectual. You can maintain the health and vibrancy of your colored hair by finding less expensive solutions that perform just as well as more expensive ones with a little trial and error.
