Although it’s a common belief that people with blonde hair have more fun, anyone who has ever experienced platinum locks knows it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. Finding the ideal blonde can be a difficult journey, and there are moments when you may question whether it’s all worth it.
I had no idea what to anticipate when I made the decision to give JOICO a try for the first time. Would this brand truly be able to meet my expectations, or would it just end up being another dud of a product? Choosing the best option can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack because there are so many available.
I’ll be completely honest about my experience with JOICO in this post, covering both the good and the bad. Read on to see how this product performed in my quest for gorgeous, manageable hair if you’re wondering if it’s the right choice for you on your blonde journey.
Experience | Thoughts |
First time trying JOICO | JOICO left my hair feeling smooth and shiny, but the blonde shade was a bit too intense for my liking. |
Blonde overload | Even with the best products, sometimes blonde can be overwhelming, making me reconsider going lighter again. |
When I first tried JOICO, it was quite eye-opening because, believe it or not, even a blonde like me can get intimidated by this strong haircare line. It’s simple to get carried away by the excitement, but whether the goods live up to the hype is the true test. My encounter with JOICO caused me to reconsider the way I take care of my blonde hair and served as a reminder that sometimes going overboard with product isn’t the best way to get the ideal look.

Why JOICO
Non-budget brands like t.D, Lanza, Lebel, Kerastase, and Joico make me nervous. If Lanza and Lebel were able to break through my heart during the blonde phase, and if Kerastase was partially successful but much earlier, then Joico is much more difficult to work with.
I’ve been familiar with this brand for a while, have read a lot of product reviews, and have witnessed the external rebranding—possibly internal, but I’m not qualified to judge.I’ve never used makeup. Thus, following the product line’s expansion and rebranding, I made the deliberate decision to start carefully getting to know the brand’s offerings.
Why with caution? Due to the cosmetics’ potency and potential for weight gain, I may find that they are too much for me. This is precisely the opposite extreme from "the cosmetics are too good, too strong," which is to say, "the cosmetics are not good enough, weak."
I tried both of the new products I had from winter to a lesser extent for various reasons. I will state up front that these are decants in their original containers, not full sizes. And thank God for that, as I no longer require as many products that ended up being too harsh for my hair.
… I do not like to write about the brand and its philosophy, and go straight to the jars and bottles, but now I decided to make an exception, because writing only about two decants that I barely tried is somehow boring and not enough, God needs more text so now there will be a short excursion into the history and development of the brand..

About the product:
Joico Treatment for Moisture Recovery An extreme solution for softening dry, frizzy hair is a balm hair mask. Joico Treatment Balm’s unique formula includes all the ingredients required for comprehensive care, and it can quickly address symptoms of dehydration and malnourishment, including dullness, internal heterogeneity of the structure, and styling difficulties. After years of searching for a solution, the company’s cosmetologists were able to create an artificial keratin molecule, which is a protein found in damaged hair caused by dehydration.
There, a number of special complexes were developed that let you replenish protein that hair loses for a variety of reasons. The foundation of the Joico Moisture Recovery hair care line of cosmetics was one of these complexes, called Hydramine Sea, which was made expressly to regulate the water balance of hair.
Appearance, consistency and aroma
There once was a blue design on this mask from the moisturizing line for coarse, dry hair, and the bottles were teardrop shaped. The bottles’ shape has now changed to a cylindrical shape with a rounded bottom; some volumes were previously produced in tubes.
Additionally, the bottles’ design has changed; they are now light gray bottles with a silver-metallo-blue label. Recall that the ruler’s color was still blue—deep blue, not light blue, not lilac, but blue. T.k. I’m wearing a mask, not an air conditioner, and there’s a distinct line that marks the change from silver to blue.
The first photo and the preview both show the appearance of my bottle, which is a handy half-liter cylindrical bottle. Since liters are heavy and excessively large for hand luggage, these volumes are generally very practical and universal. Additionally, since the mask is powerful and will be used sparingly, I believe that this format is excellent for storage as well as likely for use in care.
Despite the dispenser’s apparent strength and style, I had issues with it. Something was not right.
What about the dispenser?
What about the dispenser? It’s a rotary one that initially refused to open, but with some persistence, it did, and the product did not dispense. After unscrewing it, I could see that the mask was not being drawn in by the dispenser, preventing it from rising to the surface. I had to cut the bottle open and move the contents to a handy jar. What can I do?
The mask has a creamy, thick, enveloping texture that is neither sticky nor clumpy, much like the same Maraes or Concept Mega masks, to name a few. This situation is a little different from others in that these consistency are hard to apply and adhere to everywhere. The JOICO mask is thick, but it’s easy to scoop out and apply to hair; it absorbs almost instantly. Very interesting consistency.
The color is peach, with a hint of opaque, thick honey, but the scent is new. The most I can describe it as, being a layman in perfumery, is that it smells like fresh herbs, water, and spring.
Ingredients:
WATER/AQUA/EAU, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, DIMETHICONE, SORBITOL, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, STEARYL ALCOHOL, BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, CETYL ALCOHOL, GLYCERYL OLEATE, FRAGRANCE/PARFUM, PHENOXYETHANOL, LAURDIMONIUM HYDROXYPROPYL HYDROLYZED KER ATIN, ARGININE HCL, ROSA CANINA FRUIT OIL, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS ( JOJOBA) SEED OIL, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, ASTROCARYUM MURUMURU SEED BUTTER, HYDROLYZED ALGIN, SEA WATER/MARIS AQUA/EAU DE MER, CHLORELLA VULGARIS EXTRACT, PHOSPHATIDYLCHOLINE, AMINOPROPYL DIMETHICONE, GLUTAMIC ACID, STEARYL DIHYDROXYPROPYLDIMONIUM OLIGOSACCHARIDES, PEG-90M, OCTYLDODECANOL, STEARTRIMONIUM CHLOR IDE, PEG-6 METHYL ETHER DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, PEG -4 LAURATE, TETRASODIUM GLUTAMATE DIACETATE, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE, CITRIC ACID, LIMONENE, BENZYL BENZOATE,ORANGE 4 (CI 15510), YELLOW 5 (CI 19140).
The composition is practical and spans a kilometer. For some reason, fatty alcohols, silicones, hydrolyzed wheat proteins, and not hydrolyzed keratin, arginine, rosehip seed oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, olive oil, vegetable protein, muru muru butter, brown algae polysaccharides, green eukaryotic microalgae extract, cell membrane molecules, amino acids, emulsifiers, and emollients are seen here. Some sources also mention these substances.
Additionally, the product has an intriguing system called Smart Release, which suggests that helpful substances in various sizes will distribute uniformly and continuously throughout the hair, masking the effects of any remedy over time.
Yes, you are reading this sentence of mine that I wrote in a Klitschkoesque manner, but this is a quote from the system’s official website:
SMARTRELEASE SYSTEM includes three components for healthy hair enclosed in an invisible liposome. a unique liposomal delivery system that releases keratin, arginine, and rosehip oil continuously to help strengthen, repair, and shield hair from the cumulative effects of daily styling.
Application and results
It is advised to apply and leave the mask on damp, clean hair for a brief period of time. I was given the following advice when I bought it:
Apply the mask after giving your hair a thorough wash with a chelated shampoo, shgo, or any other excellent cleansing shampoo. Gently squeeze your hair to make it wet. Keep it for three to five minutes, apply the lightest leave-in conditioner, avoid using any conditioner, and use a hair dryer to dry it so the mask can open.
And these are the challenges that were in store for me. I’m used to putting masks on wet hair everywhere, anytime, and with any kind of mask in theory. I followed all the instructions the first time, with the exception of washing my hair with SHGO. I didn’t want to empty my hair again because I didn’t have it on hand and it had been a while since I had colored it. I used the potent leave-in product JOICO to cover it.
It was a light, but nourished blonde, similar to what I saw after Lebel Viege. At first, I saw a nourished canvas of smooth hair, lying hair to hair, but there was no sense of natural, heavy hair. There was a tiny tangle; when you toss your hair, the hairs lie next to each other and start to stretch as a single canvas. It looks lovely, but it is a little awkward.
The following day, I felt like I had been severely overfed; my hair had become tangled into solid, impenetrable icicles, making combing it feel electrified. No, a calamity has occurred. My hair cannot handle this weight.
Because of their natural thinness and lack of density, combined with the fact that they withstand the monthly bleaching of the roots and the risky washing of the powder for the duration, I reasoned that they must be extremely spoiled and crave food. However, it did not come across as bad.
That’s exactly what happened when I stopped trying to grow and chopped off 5 or 7 cm of hair due to malnourishment; even masks couldn’t cover up the depressing sight.
I donned the mask a few more times without SHGO, but this time around things were a little better: compaction was present, and there was a little less overload than before. I saw no signs of dehydration or chilled hair. This proved to be a very potent mask for me, more restorative than hydrating. I took a summer break from it. Maybe the heat will cause it to open up. Or perhaps not. We’ll find out in time.

Appearance, consistency and aroma
This cream is part of the Hydra Splash line, which is distinguished by its silver and metallic blue design. No, that’s not it. This line is fresh.
The leave-in cream is put into a cylindrical bottle with a rotary dispenser, which functions properly, stylishly, and heartily—unlike the mask dispenser. Additionally, if needed and desired, you can close it.
This cream has a perfect consistency—it’stranslucent, whitish, and neither sticky nor greasy. It has a stronger, more vibrant scent than the mask—herbs. There is definitely something fresh there, even though everyone knows my nose does not yet understand the notes. It might be neutral-fruity or floral, like patchouli and ylang-ylang.
Composition
WATER/AQUA/EAU, DIMETHICONE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, CARTHAMUS TINCTORIUS (SAFFLOWER) SEED OIL, CRAMBE ABYSSINICA SEED OIL PHYTOSTEROL ESTERS, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) LIQUID ENDOSPERM, CHLORELLA VULGARIS EXTRACT, HYDROLYZED ALGIN , ARGININE HCL, ROSA CANINA FRUIT OIL, SEA WATER/MARIS AQUA/EAU DE MER, LAURDIMONIUM HYDROXYPROPYL HYDROLYZED KERATIN, PHOSPHATIDYLCHOLINE, BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, GLYCERYL STEARATE SE, POLYQUATERNIUM-37, DICAPRYLYL CARBONATE, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, SODIUM GLUCONATE, GLYCERYL LAURATE, LAURYL GLUCOSIDE, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, CITRIC ACID, LINALOOL, LIMONENE, FRAGRANCE/PARFUM.
The composition is rich and not at all brief. The Smart Release system, which I recently wrote about, is also the foundation of the cream. The Smart Release emblem is located at the bottom right of each bottle. Fatty alcohols, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, crambe oil, coconut water, brown algae polysaccharide, green microalgae extract, arginine, rosehip seed oil extract, wheat proteins, keratin, and cell membrane molecules are among the components of the composition.
Application and result
Well, things are a lot better and simpler here. After washing, I apply the cream on damp hair under the hair dryer without using any additional sprays, oils, etc. Nevertheless, oil is sometimes necessary. The cream softens and protects the hair without making it stiff, but I’m not sure if using it under the same iron or curling iron is worth it. It doesn’t get rid of static.
This cream doesn’t weigh you down and is incredibly light. Maybe one day it will be available for purchase as a full-size item that will satisfy me all year long.
The cream didn’t work for me when I used the original mask from the nearby line. I mean, how can I say that it "didn’t work" when there was overload? However, the cream fits flawlessly with the other care I have—all kinds of angels, insights, and kaarals. It is a little heavy on Lebel, but not as much as it was on the semi-original mask.
You have previously viewed this image, and it will appear once more in the upcoming post. It features care from Angel Professional along with cream JOICO, which is a perfect match for the care.
My first experience with JOICO was eye-opening. The results exceeded my expectations and the transformation happened instantly. Even after all the stress of going blonde, my hair felt brighter, healthier, and more vibrant. It’s evident that JOICO recognizes the special requirements of processed hair and gives it the hydration and attention it needs.
JOICO made blonde more tolerable, even though it can occasionally be too much for hair to handle. I needed the products to actively work at protecting and repairing my hair, not just cover up the damage. JOICO is a game-changer for anyone who is having trouble maintaining their blonde hair or is just looking to give their locks a makeover.
I felt more assured about my hair care regimen overall after the experience. I can’t wait to use JOICO more and observe how it affects the long-term health and color of my hair. I urge you to give it a try if you haven’t already; you might discover that it’s the boost your hair has been waiting for.
