I battled damaged hair for years that felt more like straw than anything remotely supple or well. Breakage, dryness, and split ends had become my daily existence. I tried a ton of treatments and products, but nothing seemed to revive my hair.
I finally concluded that a significant change was necessary. I concentrated on creating a regimen that would nourish my hair from root to tip rather than depending on temporary fixes. I gradually began to see results with patience and the appropriate approach, but it wasn’t simple or quick.
I finally have the long, healthy hair I’ve always wanted. Although it has been a journey, I have learned a lot about what hair care products work and don’t. Here’s how I got my hair from brittle, damaged strands to gorgeous, flowing hair that it is today.
- So, I"ll start my story.
- And then they showed me a photo of my hair from behind.

So, I"ll start my story.
It was painted with professional dye in the shade of Savannah and an oxentine of 9-6% Estel Essex
Perhaps, the fact that I couldn"t grow the desired length or even close to it was my biggest problem.
At that time, I really liked the products Gliss Kur for blondes, First, these funds were for Platinum blond, and not as they later for golden "Shining Blonde". As soon as the series became for golden blonde, I switched to other care. Because before these products helped make my hair even lighter, helped remove yellowness, and the new series did not help, but on the contrary added a golden shine. I also loved sprays and silicone leave-in Gliss Kur.
The advertisement with broken scissors also influenced my choice. But the Londa mask, which was later recommended to me in a professional cosmetics store, helped bring my hair into a well-groomed appearance. I still remember how soft, smooth, shiny and silky they became.
And then they showed me a photo of my hair from behind.
The coloring looked exactly there not at all beautiful. I realized that something had to change. Everyone around me advised me to grow out my hair color. I decided to do this, but without dyeing my hair light brown directly on top, I read that it is very difficult to get the right beautiful light brown color with dyes, and even more so to achieve your specific color, and to make the color uniform for all hair, except for the bottom layer of hair, which I did not touch with dyes, then gradually grow out my natural color.
At that time, I did not know where to look for a good hairdresser, and there was not much information. And I went to the nearest beauty salon to my house, where my hair was dyed uniformly blonde and almost without yellowness (but in one place it still had a yellowish tint, although barely noticeable). I left the salon with beautiful, smooth, straight, as if very well-groomed hair. Thanks to the uniform coloring, they began to look longer. This photo is some time after the coloring
The styling lasted on my hair for more than a week, even despite washing my hair. I had a huge desire to buy the products that were used for the post-dyeing treatment in the salon. But, unfortunately, I didn’t immediately think to ask the hairdresser what kind of products they were and what brand. I asked different people, but I never had time to go to the salon and find out, and I was also very embarrassed to go there just for this.
One friend suggested that many salons use Matrix products. She recommended a smoothing mask of this brand to me, although I liked the effect and the absence of silicones, but it was not the same effect. So I continued searching, but did it in an ineffective way, I just collected information, studied reviews. (I decided to contact the salon with my question only after a huge period of time, when my hair had already begun to recover from a series of events, which are described below. In the salon, they told me that they work with two brands at the moment, and most likely, the products were from Kapous. A lot of time has passed, so I couldn"t be completely sure, but after reading many reviews I decided to try Kapous, but only recently. I"ve tried only the two-phase spray from what I"ve bought so far and I"m happy with this purchase.)
And then I bought an interesting Pharma Group hair growth series in St. Petersburg.
Thanks to the shampoo and conditioner, my hair began to grow better and fall out less, and the length of my blonde hair, which requires very careful care, also looked good with these products. I didn"t use up the products, I decided to save them, and switched to a Londa mask and some mass market.
After some time, the roots grew a lot, it became not very beautiful, I had to do something with my hair again. (When they grew a little, I liked it even more than completely dyed.)
I found out that my friend works in a salon as a hairdresser, thought that I could trust her with my beloved hair, and asked her to make a transition on my hair from my natural root color to blonde.
I did not get what I wanted, but damaged hair – yes.
She worked only on paints Matrix. The choice of dyes was not great, they apparently were not taught to mix them, she offered me two options, one was very dark – chestnut, she assured me that this was my natural hair color, the other one offered was blond, but darker than mine, already from the sample it seemed to me that on my light brown roots it would turn red, a friend assured me that there would be no hint of red. I decided that the most suitable for a smooth transition is clearly not the one that is darker than my natural hair color.
As a result, my hair roots (yes, for some reason she decided that it would be better to paint over all the roots, and not just the part that is closer to the beginning of the blonde, to create a smooth transition) became bright light red. I was shocked! She didn"t want to re-dye my hair, but I insisted, I couldn"t go out in such horror! And so she dyed my hair in option 1, which was very dark compared to my light brown hair color, but it was better than the previous result. I left the salon not a blonde at all, only the ends remained light, and my hair was very dark, as if not far from black, but with light thin strands, as if small, infrequent highlighting.
Overall it looked beautiful, and one could even be happy if not for 3 nuances:
- I received something completely different from what I asked for (that"s why I trust myself more than hairdressers),
- they ruined my hair by dyeing it twice in a row and both times with a considerable percentage of oxidizer,
- my hair became not smooth and silky, but voluminous (well, that"s not bad) and even somewhat fluffy (but that"s not good at all).
John Frieda Sheer Blonde
And I did not cut my hair, it was it that broke.
Thus, it’s likely that I didn’t really consider treating them; instead, I chose to suffer from the sun, the sea, and some light care (I took it fortunately that John Frieda didn’t leave, but it was still pretty bad, judging by the makeup and fat content of the mask—a set from Shauma; maybe it was only because of this mask that the hair didn’t die completely and all at once) as well as one "harmless" lightener from John Frieda.
The last straw
Arriving from the Black Sea, I saw that my hair was in sadness, but to what extent — I was shown photos from the vacation and my attempt to put it in order with the products from St. Petersburg, which I mentioned above. The condition of my hair on vacation was better seen in another photo, but everything was so terrible there that I immediately removed it. This is such fluffy straw
In the process of washing off the balm, my hair simply fell out and remained in my hands in clumps! It was a shock and a huge stress! I immediately threw these products away, deciding that they had deteriorated. But in fact, the John Frieda products were to blame and my thoughtless approach to using one of them, as well as to hair care in general (in particular at sea). What was left of the hair First of all, I decided to try to restore my hair with folk remedies, namely, I made a honey mask, but it didn"t get better even after the second application. I even had a feeling that it got worse. Then I went to the Internet for advice and recommendations in situations similar to mine. From this moment on, my search for proper hair care, suitable and best products specifically for my hair, reading numerous reviews and articles, in general, a complete immersion in the topic began.
Although it wasn’t easy, with the correct care, perseverance, and patience, I was able to grow long, beautiful hair from what felt like straw wreckage. My dry, damaged strands became healthy, luscious locks. I’ll outline the doable actions I took in this post, from picking the best products to altering daily routines, that had the biggest impact on my hair’s healing and growth process.
What has changed in my attitude to hair care products?
I began to read the compositions of care products and understand them (superficially, of course, t.to. in studying chemistry I haven"t gone into detail, at least not yet, but I already have some general information). I learned which components will benefit my hair, and which I do not need in cosmetics. I began to give more preferences to store masks than the products of their refrigerator, with only exception – natural vegetable oils, on the contrary, began to appear in my care more and more. Since then, I have managed to try many different oils, both from the grocery store, and from pharmacies and various online stores.
At the same time, the mask Kaaral appeared in my care for the first time. And I began to choose shampoos, on the contrary, more natural in composition. The quality of my hair began to improve before my eyes. It became smoother, softer, began to shine, stopped becoming electrified and breaking. Hair began to grow longer, because it stopped being brittle. Finally, I was able to grow long hair

5. Gentle brushing | Using a wide-tooth comb and brushing gently prevented breakage. |
6. Scalp care | Massaging my scalp with oils improved circulation, encouraging hair growth. |
7. Patience | It took time, but being consistent and patient paid off with long, beautiful hair. |
Regrowing damaged hair into long, gorgeous hair was a journey that took perseverance and commitment. I was able to turn what had previously appeared to be a hopeless situation into healthy, glossy hair with the correct hair care regimen and consistent practices.
My success came from using nourishing products, avoiding harsh treatments, and treating my hair gently. I noticed advancements over time that justified the effort.
If you’re having trouble with damaged hair, know that things can get better. Like mine did, it might take some time, but with the right strategy, your hair can grow back strong and gorgeous.
