Find an approach to the porous structure, grow a cascade: mission (im)possible

Choosing the best method for managing hair with a porous structure can occasionally feel like an uphill battle. Because porous hair absorbs moisture more quickly and is more prone to damage, styling can be challenging. Understanding how to take care of this type of hair is essential to getting the look you want if your goal is to grow a cascade of gorgeous, flowing layers.

It takes more than just patience to grow out a cascade style, which is a layered haircut that creates the appearance of long, flowing locks. It entails understanding how to care for your hair during the growing process to keep it healthy and attractive. Because porous hair is prone to damage, the challenge is striking a balance between hydration and prevention. However, you can take care of your hair to achieve new heights with the correct methods and supplies.

While not insurmountable, this journey does require some commitment and appropriate tactics. To achieve the ideal cascade, every step—from selecting the best conditioner to becoming proficient in gentle styling techniques—is essential. You will soon be able to sport a gorgeous, well-maintained cascade of layers if you learn to work with the specific requirements of your hair.

Life of hair before HM

Naturally, I wrote about my hair’s history on the site when I first arrived. It was filled with memories of childhood haircuts, extremely bad internal hair conditions, and growing long, healthy hair. Eventually, a cascade happened, and I had to start over. You can read more about this, including pictures, here.

Prior to the website, I looked for solutions on my own to expand my cascade rapidly. Image of the cascade before and after

My hair was naturally thick and straight, but after getting haircuts in my teens, it started to become porous and slightly wavy. The structure is still the same, but I felt like there was more density. PRIOR TO THE CASCADE

I dream of restoring the density, I hope I will have time)
And with such a cascade I walked in the summer-fall of 2015
Since the hair was shorter, it was easier for it to curl, this was the only advantage of the cascade, and even then, everything was somehow random, it lay well when it wanted to, and not when I needed to go somewhere) until 2016, I did not do anything special for growth. I tried a new product from Lash , some kind of spray burdock and calmed down on that. In 2016, I started searching the Internet for what to buy. I tried different pseudo-organics, mass-market, I also used prof, but I did not understand the needs of my hair at all. The only thing that worked well then was olive and coconut oil. that"s how terribly everything grew back and I cut it off little by little, the crookedness of the master came out despite the fact that quite a lot had already been cut off here, and in general with such a structure it was very difficult to grow: dryness, split ends, straw in the mornings … I thought that it was not meant to be, but I looked at old photos of hair like thisand was inspired: after all, it was mine, so I can get my hair back, I didn’t burn it with dyes or chemicals, just a haircut!
Of course, I did not always walk with straw, my hair seemed to live according to its mood, and to this day there are non-flying days, but now it is becoming more predictable)sometimes my short ones looked pretty good. But let"s get down to business, in the summer of 2016 I came across the Hairmaniac.ru website and disappeared… seriously and for a long time! I didn"t register right away, but I read all the old posts and waited for new ones, I was so euphoric! I dreamed of such a resource, of a place for people who were just as obsessed with hair as I was)
Here I learned about new brands, a lot of useful theory and of course I got hooked on herbal coloring… my first profile photo and, actually, what I came to the site with:

Life with Hairmaniac

My first purchases under the influence of HM were librederm spray, Constant Delight 12 in 1 elixir and of course the legendary Kaaral Hydra. . I started participating in marathons that were held on the site, which gave me a system and an understanding of what kind of growth and improvement in the quality I I receive.July/October 2016, this collage inspired further actions. In January 2017, I won in the marathon (nomination for beginners), the winning post is here and this inspired me even more! In this marathon, I got a good increase with the help of aasha henna mask with menthol and improved the quality using one line of soft shampoo and conditioner. As a prize, I received Lanza neem plant serum and then it all went downhill. This year, I have missed only 2 marathons, it is very disciplined and helps to develop a system.
On January 14, 2017, I dyed my hair for the first time with a mixture of henna and basma. And now this is one of my usual steps in care, the color does not change dramatically, but only a beautiful tint appears. Over this year of dyeing, the best for me was henna and basma "Soap nuts", but Lady Henna is more accessible for purchase at any time. I do not dye my hair very often, there were breaks of 3 months, but as a rule it is once a month and a half.

I took stock of my situation in March and ensured that the cascade was totally removed. And this is a little collage that spans the entire history of HM (though not all of it; it only fits through the end of summer 2017).

Challenge Solution
Porous Hair Structure Use moisturizing treatments to add hydration and smoothness.
Growing a Cascade Regular trims and layered cuts help maintain shape and promote healthy growth.

Although managing porous hair can seem like an impossible task, it is totally feasible to achieve a stunning cascade haircut with the appropriate strategy. The first step is to understand the unique structure and behavior of your hair. Because porous hair is more likely to become dry and frizz-prone, it needs a little more TLC.

Selecting the appropriate tools and methods is essential. Seek for cuticle sealing and frizz-reducing products that are strengthening and moisturizing. Frequent conditioning treatments can help to maintain the health and vibrancy of your hair. Gentle styling techniques can also shield your cascade haircut from additional harm and guarantee that it keeps its flow and form.

Recall that consistency and patience are essential. Finding the ideal regimen and products for your porous hair may take some time. But if you work hard, you can create a gorgeous cascade that not only looks amazing but also brings out your hair’s inherent beauty.

Although growing out a cascade can seem unachievable when dealing with porous hair structures, it is completely achievable with the right approach. In addition to offering helpful advice on how to maintain and improve your cascade haircut, this article will examine efficient techniques for caring for and styling porous hair.
