It can be challenging to shape eyebrows, particularly when attempting to achieve perfect symmetry. The eyebrow ruler is useful in this situation. It’s an easy-to-use tool that works well for consistently shaping your eyebrows.
For all skill levels, an eyebrow ruler eliminates uncertainty when taking measurements. It makes sure your eyebrows are shaped uniformly, highlighting the features of your face and giving you a polished appearance.
This tool might be the ideal addition to your beauty routine if you’ve ever battled with uneven eyebrows or simply want a more simplified way to style them.

Correction and modeling
Girls typically have to undergo the first procedure. Fashion generally demands a distinct shape, a thin, graceful arc, and no hair outside the contour. They use correction in an effort to reach the ideal.
There are numerous methods available:
- removing hairs with a razor – good only for maintaining the shape;
- removal with a thread;
- classic plucking with tweezers – the most popular form of correction;
- removal with wax – used only to eliminate hairs outside the contour.
Not all members of the fairer sex, though, are born with thick, long eyebrows that can be shaped to any length or bend. Brow arches can have bald patches or be short, light, and sparse. Furthermore, natural hairs grow poorly after frequent, intense plucking, and the eyebrow becomes excessively thin and sparse, making correction impossible.
Modeling encompasses a wide range of potential cosmetic procedures that allow you to alter the eyebrow arch’s width, thickness, and even color. Among the eyebrow modeling are:
- all correction methods – plucking, sugaring, thread removal;
- coloring – both paints and henna are used. The latter can recreate any desired color, but is safer and hypoallergenic;
- tattooing – shadow to create a background, less often shading, if there are bald spots on the eyebrow or the hairs are too sparse;
- extension – is used in rare cases so far, since the technology is new and has not received wide distribution.
Brow modeling takes anywhere from 40 to 100 minutes, depending on how many procedures are used.
Tools for the procedure
With the exception of tattooing, which calls for specialized equipment, all other procedures are performed with fairly common instruments, the majority of which are located in homes.
- A brush – it is shorter than an eyelash brush and has slightly stiffer hairs. Its purpose is to distribute the applied composition and simultaneously comb the hairs so that the latter are laid in one direction and have a neater appearance. A brush is used for coloring, applying a modeling gel for styling, as well as in most care procedures: for an oil mask, for example.
- Tweezers – steel products are preferable: they are much more durable and can be disinfected. There are several varieties: for example, tweezers with straight and beveled ends are suitable for working with hard, coarse hairs that are difficult to remove. The option with pointed tips is used when thinning out overly thick and fluffy eyebrows, as it allows you to capture individual hairs. Needle tweezers – a model for removing hairs along the edges of the eyebrow arch. We wrote about how to choose a good tweezers for eyebrows in this article.
- Epilator – suitable for removing hairs outside the contour boundaries. Its advantage is the ability to remove light, invisible hairs that darken over time and are suddenly “discovered”. Disadvantage – a full correction, that is, changing the shape of the bend, cannot be done with an epilator.
- Eyebrow modeling ruler – this item migrated to a cosmetologist from a tattoo parlor. In fact, this is a soft stencil with millimeter divisions that allow you to form perfectly symmetrical eyebrows. During a normal procedure, the master works “by eye”. The ruler allows you to measure the correct proportions, taking into account the fact that in a normal state, certain facial muscles are constantly tense, and in fact, the eyebrow arches are rarely at rest.
This specific characteristic is typically linked to the correction’s inadequate efficacy. Consistently raising one eyebrow, scowling, or grinning with only one edge of the mouth results in apparent asymmetry. Usually, during correction, the face’s muscles are sufficiently relaxed to erase this well-known expression. The asymmetry can be taken into consideration with a simple ruler measurement.
An eyebrow ruler is a basic yet useful tool that makes it easy to create symmetrical, well-shaped eyebrows. Regardless of your level of experience with eyebrow grooming, this tool makes it simple to model and outline your brows, guaranteeing accuracy and balance without requiring any guesswork.
How to choose a ruler
For this tool to reduce modeling, it needs to fulfill a few basic requirements:
- The material should be soft and flexible enough to take any shape;
- Plastic is preferable to transparent, especially for beginners. In this case, both divisions and an eyebrow arc are clearly visible, so there are no difficulties with correlating proportions;
- marker or pencil notes should be clearly visible and not blur;
- The material should easily tolerate the disinfection procedure with alcohol.
Here are some pointers to help you make a lovely and accurate eyebrow correction:
Using a ruler
The device itself may have a different shape. In order to position the ruler as close to the eyebrows as possible, beginners are advised to use products with a thicker center and wavy edges. You can use an ordinary straight ruler if you have some experience.
How should a ruler be used?
The product is dried and cleaned with alcohol prior to the process.
1. As near the eyebrow arches as you can, position the ruler. The center and the middle of the eyes should be precisely equal in distance. The middle of the nose’s bridge, in particular, should not be the focus of attention because, generally speaking, the nose is slightly asymmetrical and the natural eyebrows are not all the same length.
2. Determine the arch’s starting, stopping, and maximum bending point. Use a pencil or marker, a second, fairly long pencil, and a straight, hard ruler for this:
- a pencil is applied to the wing of the nose and directed tangentially through the inner corner of the eye. The point of its intersection with the brow arch is the beginning. A corresponding mark is made on the ruler;
- the pencil is directed from the wing of the nose through the outer corner of the eye. The intersection point is the end of the eyebrow;
- the highest point of the bend is found at the intersection of the pencil passing through the wing of the nose and the center of the pupil.
3. The second brow arch undergoes the same process. For whatever reason, the points may not all be in the same place. For instance, if the arch is reshaped to be more rounded, the bend point will move to the center.
You can adjust the points to make the arches as symmetrical as possible by comparing their locations using the marks on the ruler. Adjustment is made in accordance with the information on the ruler.
For use at home, the device is incredibly convenient. To use the pre-made template in the future, just take the necessary measurements once.
