I had intended to write a post that would only discuss Estel Thermokeratin, but instead it included a thorough explanation of Estel’s process and results, along with a comparison between thermokeratin and keratin straightening.

Estel Thermokeratin: What is it? Of course, the most crucial point is that, despite my initial doubts due to the word "thermo," this procedure has nothing to do with keratin straightening. When I performed the procedure for the first time in a salon, I was terrified that I wasn’t being told the truth. Let’s solve it together.

Let"s talk about keratin straightening

Everyone is generally aware of the fact that keratin (Brazilian) straightening has drawbacks, namely that the hair must be exposed to an iron heated to 200–250 degrees Celsius following treatment with a composition containing formaldehyde. Substances that evaporate from hair alter its structure in response to temperature. Smooth and straight hair results. But only up until the point at which the hair holds the composition.

I was given a very clear explanation of the dangers of chemical curling and keratin straightening by a hairdresser-technician. The same action principle applies. The hair’s structure is forced to change in the desired direction due to chemical effects. However, as time goes on, the procedure’s effects fade. What do we observe, then? hair that has been entirely destroyed, both the new and old structures damaged. And that’s all at the molecular level.

About four years ago, I attempted the procedure on myself. I was ecstatic to have made it for the first time. My thin, porous, slightly curly hair straightened, became shiny, well-groomed, and compliant. It took three minutes to lay. This is a picture of the initial process.

But a few months have gone by. Like drug addicts, the composition was wiped out and the hair was still asked for. Yes, I did it once more. After four months, repeat the process.

Start by examining your hair’s "before" state. It cannot be compared to the state prior to the initial straightening. hurtful and harmed. And I did a respectable job of cutting it, too. and the "after" state of your hair. See what transpired with the quantity of hair? I can’t bear to look. Regretfully, I gave in to this style. People continue to persuade me that this treatment is only beneficial for my hair. However, my depressing experience brings me back to reality; miracles never happen in a vacuum.

This is essentially what I did to them in an attempt to achieve gloss and make-believe grooming. Additionally, this occurs when there is hair loss! Images taken prior to keratin straightening and in between treatments, after the hair had been cleaned of the composition… I hope you can see how I feel about this process. I can only now, so many years later, fully appreciate how beautiful my hair was before getting keratin.

When I saw these collages again, I was very depressed. However, I am happy to report that my natural data is good, meaning I can restore everything with the right care. I sincerely hope so.

Let"s get back to our sheep. More precisely, to Estel

It’s odd that there are disparate sources of information about the process on the Internet. Including the fact that formaldehyde is present in the mask and that an iron is used throughout the process. I was going to the salon, and I was confused by this.

It turned out to be something else, in fact. The hair was dried with a hairdryer; no overpowering chemical odors were detected, as the straightening process is completed quickly in the sink. and using a hair dryer to finish drying. Hydrolyzed keratin serves as the foundation for the compositions; because keratin molecules are large and difficult to penetrate hair, the "broken," hydrolyzed molecule can fill the hair. If formaldehyde is found, it’s in extremely minute amounts.

Stage 1. Shampoo

Shampoo is available separately and is not part of the set. It so happened that we were given the incorrect shampoo by mistake in the online store. Why did you not alter it? Since Estel Prima Blonde was more costly, I was eager to test the line. Furthermore, I don’t think shampoo will have any particular impact in this situation. For best results, use a deep cleansing shampoo. or any shampoo at all. I’ve attached a photo for the purpose of order; even though I’m not blonde, the shampoo looks great on me.

Stage 2. Keratin mask

First, let’s discuss the primary phase of care. After washing and towel-drying hair, apply the mask. It smells so good! These are so lovely, velvety, and pricey; I adore them. The mask has the same consistency as all other masks. I step back from the roots and evenly distribute it over the strands.

Stage 3. Thermal activator

This is where the salon procedure differs from the at-home procedure (Estel sells a comparable set without the activator for use at home). The name of it is Estel Keratin. A clear gel called the activator starts to heat up due to friction. My hands are able to sense it. Not too hot, no need for gloves. Very mild warmth. I emulsify by applying directly on top of the mask. I give it 20 to 30 minutes to sit in my hair. The directions state that you should rinse it off right away. They left the composition in my hair for precisely fifteen minutes in the salon.

Estel Thermokeratin is a well-liked treatment that helps smooth and strengthen hair that has been weakened or damaged by adding density to porous hair. By filling in the spaces in the hair’s structure, this keratin-based formula gives the hair more weight and thickness while also enhancing its general health and appearance. As a result, hair appears healthier, more manageable, and has less frizz.

Stage 4. Keratin water

After giving the mixture a thorough rinse, dab with a towel. Next, mist the hair with keratin water. According to the description, this is a magical product with a long list of benefits, including sealing the ends, keratinization, thickening, color fixation, volume, smoothing, thermal protection, and UV protection. Okay, so… Sincerely, I tried using this water after my usual maintenance, but it had no effect.

I’ll share my personal opinion: your preferred leave-in oil and thermal protection can safely replace this stage. I used the leave-in oil after each step and let it dry completely. It was not glossy.

Stage 5. Blow-drying with a brush

This is where I personally see the distinction between salon and at-home care. My hair couldn’t be straightened as perfectly as it could be in a salon. I simply grew weary of it and failed to see its purpose. Unless Hairmaniac needed a pretty picture for something. But in all honesty, I still believe that real photos are preferable because they capture the outcome that is accessible to all. For the experiment’s impartiality and integrity So, we use a hairdryer to straighten it without becoming too obsessive.

My results

I’ll show you what I have now. My dark hair has been dyed, and it is thin, porous, frizzy, and slightly curly. My friend has light hair that is naturally thin, straight, and smooth.

I didn’t snap a backside picture following the salon. Though there wasn’t much volume, the impression was excellent, and I appreciated the styling. At the time, my hair was in disarray; the procedure helped to put it in order.

The most fascinating part follows. Up until the first wash, the process continues. And the picture will generally speak louder than words about the subsequent wash I did without drying.

The cumulative effect of the set is probably still visible in the hair if you use it frequently. I recently wrote about my comprehensive care, which includes thermokeratin. However, you won’t be happy with the outcome if you wash your hair carelessly. The fact that a salon procedure was performed a day or two ago is meaningless.

A fair amount of hair was chopped off after a while. Why? Constant coloring caused hair to thinning and break. I started treating hair care more cautiously after that. Because all I could think about before was "how to solve the problem of hair loss."

These are our initial home-based results. My friend helped me use a hairdryer to straighten my hair, and the result is fantastic—my thick hair looks nice. Because the hair was voluminous after the procedure, Moroccanoil oil was applied, but I wanted the outcome shown in the advertisement. The fact that the hair appears shinier in the "before" picture compared to the "after" one (collages 2 and 3, our second at-home procedure) embarrassed my friend and me. This is quite peculiar.

In actuality, this is proof of what I previously stated. Easily the most significant collage, in my opinion. Hair before the operation, following the operation, and following the initial washing. As you can see, the differences between the first and third photos are essentially nonexistent. I used a hairdryer to style my hair as well in the third picture. Additionally, they are tidy.

I performed roughly ten procedures as a result; one procedure still uses keratin water, and for the remaining two, there is already running out of water. The hair in the picture below has grown in a little already—possibly after the fifth procedure. Of course, basic healthcare is available concurrently.
