About my hair
They haven’t had color for the past two years (I also had CONCEPT toning done in a salon after Matrix). In addition, my hair’s lower half now has a different color, is brittle, and has a lot of split ends. However, I refuse to change my color.
Why do I need this toning
I’ve read a lot of places saying that damaged hair can and should be filled in with poisonous-tinted pigment.
But since I’m growing out my own color, colorless for the time being—and only on the damaged portion of the hair.
About toning
Make-up: Consistency: the activator is liquid, opaque, and white; the dye is thick, soft beige with pearl. Aroma: there was none at all when mixing, but as soon as the peroxide was applied to the hair, it started to smell and got stronger, lasting for a whole day.
Stages of toning
I followed the thorough directions I found online for this dye:
- Washed my hair with SHGO (2 times)
- Blotted my hair with a towel to remove excess moisture
- Divided wet hair into 2 parts, carefully combed with a rare comb
- I prepared a 1:1 mixture (for my length and thickness I took 15 grams of dye and 15 grams of oxide)
It is convenient that there is such a division on the tube. I measured out the activator with a syringe.
- I applied the mixture to damp hair with a brush – to the damaged part of the hair (the instructions indicate that the Clear shade is applied only to damp hair)
- I left it for 20 minutes without using heat
- I washed it out with Kutrin shampoo for colored hair, I had a little left from the cast
- I applied Kutrin Premium Moisturizing Conditioner for colored hair for 2 minutes. I spent a long time in the store hovering over the balm from Kapous with pH 3.5 – just right after coloring, but still resisted buying it (I don’t know now in vain or not)
- I washed out the conditioner, wrapped my hair in a towel, after 5 minutes I applied Lanza leave-in conditioner
- I dried it with a professional hair dryer and a thermal brush with a ceramic-ion coating. (First I dried it without a brush, then strand by strand with it at medium power, then with cold air over the entire hair)
My impressions
First impressions are the best: the hair looks dense but flows well after a good mask; the cross-section is 90% smoothed, and it becomes silky and pliable after being dried with a hairdryer and heated brushed.
The ends did not lie as well as they did after the Lakme ampoule or the morpher with proteins from the same Matrix, but they did acquire the long-awaited density after drying (while still being soft and elastic). All three of these products have comparable effects overall; however, the ampoule offers more moisture and the morpher and toning – density.
I had higher expectations. Color toning had a better effect. Maybe that’s because the pigment is so dark. However, some filling of the "gaps" is still noticeable.
And hair in a flash: naturally, it shines beautifully (though I get that from any good mask or conditioner).
And a comparison with other products is shown here. The hair in the first and second pictures was dried (just the roots) with a hair dryer without being brushed.
After toning, there was still shine and softness with no trace of dryness. After two weeks: I observed that, although my hair did not look dry, it started to electrify more than usual.
Pros and cons
- does not dry out hair, even hair with moderate damage
- economy
- slightly thickens
- did not change the hair tone in one go
- you need to use only the “native” oxidizer
- the percentage of oxide is not small — 2.7%
- the oxide packaging is only 1 l (but someone managed to find 90 ml, I didn’t)
- with colorless toning, the effect is average compared to toning with dark shades.
