Color bath
A color bath is what?
A color bath is a process that involves applying a specific ratio of shampoo, low-percentage oxide, and dye to the hair in order to add brightness, adjust tone, and neutralize an undesirable shade.
It is primarily applied after hair bleaching. Using the color wheel, the dye’s color is chosen based on the desired outcome and the lightning’s background. There are no set ratios for combining.
To avoid making a mistake, I believe that the method is exclusively intended for professional use and that the general public should not engage with it.
Every hairstylist has their own formula for color baths, ratios for blending specific colors, and holding periods. You can experiment at home, but you only have one head and one hair, and you won’t get it right the first time around because you don’t know what you’re doing.
Furthermore, not all hairstylists employ this particular toning technique.
Regular coloring works because the oxidizer’s acidic environment and the dye’s alkaline environment work together to create a normal alkaline reaction that opens the hair cuticle and releases the pigment within.
The acidic pH of the shampoo interferes with the alkaline reaction in a color bath, making the environment more acidic and reducing the amount of pigment that penetrates the interior. It turns out that the pigment is fixed on the hair’s surface rather than entering the hair. In this instance, partial coloring (dye + oxide) will result in the cuticular layer being damaged and "opened." We now have temporary coloring and damaged hair as a result.
It turns out that taking a color bath causes more damage to hair than usual because it is a transient toning. Do you require it? Make your own decision. If so, the Internet is filled with numerous articles and videos covering this subject. If not, select a different toning technique.
Without considering the volume to cost ratio, all products in the selection will be arranged based on average price, ranging from highest to lowest.
Tinted shampoos not included in the previous post
In the first post, you can read about the principle of action, the advantages and disadvantages of the method, and some of the nuances of use.
Kerastase Ultra violet Shampoo
A highly pigmented shampoo with a deep blue-violet color. You must apply the product evenly throughout the hair to achieve a uniform shade; otherwise, the color will be patchy. Since the shampoo contains sodium laureth sulfate, don’t expect it to leave you feeling amazingly moisturized. Conversely, it even dries and needs to be cleaned after use. According to the reviews, the shampoo can clean the scalp without the need for extra steps in between. Its product line allows for even more efficient operation.
250 ml for about 3300 p.
Olaplex No. 4p Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo
The brand only offers this anti-yellow shampoo. Although he can’t claim to be extremely popular, he may be in high regard. Shampoo protects the canvas and doesn’t dry out hair because of its rich purple pigment, but it paints hands a lot, so wear gloves if you want to avoid that. In order to prevent the hair from turning purple, it’s also crucial to avoid overusing shampoo (especially relevant for powder blondes). remedy for olefin sulfonate.
$2500.00 for a 250 ml.
Chi Ionic Color Illuminate
The Chi line of shampoos only includes three options: red auburn for red hair shades, platinum blonde and silver blonde for blondes, and platinum blonde and silver blonde for blondes, respectively. Shampoos without sulfates, C14–16 Olefin Sulfonate, also known as just olefin in everyday speech, functions as a surfactant. contains a large number of extracts that are softening and moisturizing. Because of its composition, the product hardly ever dries out hair; in fact, some girls reported their hair feeling softer after using it.
The shampoo effectively addresses its primary purpose of counteracting yellowness in hair, effectively imparting a cool tone that is highly favored by women worldwide.
355 ml for about 2800 p.
Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo
The company only offers this toning shampoo. It contains mother-of-pearl and is blue-violet in color. Olefin sulfonate is the surfactant. Even though the color is highly pigmented, gloves are not necessary when using this shampoo. Although the shampoo does not overly care for the hair (thank you for ensuring that it does not dry out), it does give the hair a noticeable cold tone. When applied evenly, it lies smoothly and doesn’t get tangled in hair. It comes across both fluidly and fairly quickly.
$200 p. for a 200 ml.
Joico Color Infuse and Color Balance
Two subtypes comprise the line that Joyko has developed. The Color Infuce subtype comprises shampoos named Color Infuce Red for reddish-hued hair, Color Infuce Copper for copper-hued hair, and Color Infuce Brown for brown-hued hair.
Depending on the shade, reviews for these shampoos range from "wow!" to "ugh." The consensus is that while the shampoo does a good job of toning the hair, the results are fleeting. When applied without understanding the color wheel, it may give the hair an undesirable undertone. It also dries quickly for many people. Some claim that given other properties, its price is unreasonable.
The second subtype, known as Color Balance, consists of shampoos like Color Balance Purple and Color Balance Blue that counteract undesirable tones and keep dark hair looking cool.
We can conclude that the shampoo is effective based on the few reviews available online. It neutralizes orange and yellow tones in colored hair qualitatively so you can prolong the enjoyment of the chilly shade. It doesn’t overly dry out your hair either. It has a small cost when foaming properly.
Cost: about 1800 PHP for 300 ml.
Tigi Bed Head Dumb Blonde
Gently, regrettably, anti-yellow shampoo with sodium cocoyl estethification for fair-haired people. has mixed reviews, some of which are favorable. Shampoo gives the hair a shade even though its color is unsaturated; however, this product does not work on ice blonde hair. dries the hair a little bit. A dispenser that is inconvenient is noted by many girls who lack funds. In Russia, shampoo is not very popular, and yes, this is also related to something.
Cost: about 1700 PHP for 400 ml.
John Frieda
The brand offers two tint shampoos: brilliant brunette visible deeper for brunettes and sheer blonde color renew for blondes.
Because there isn’t much pigment in the shampoo, blondes can see that it has a light purple color with a faint mother-of-pearl hue. Many girls experienced this when they used it because toning produced a faintly chilly hue or none at all. In 1-2 washes, it completely dissolves. Does not thoroughly wash hair and applies unevenly. There’s a better product in its price range.
Reviews for brunette shampoo are noticeably more favorable. Customers say their hair has a deeper color and shine after using the product. effectively lathers hair from the very beginning. Given that I did not observe any significant visual effects on anyone, I believe that this shampoo is more of a regular one than a toning one. Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a traditional surfactant used in both shampoos.
Price for 250 ml is about 1500 rubles.
Lakme Color Refresh
Two shampoos in the Lakme line are violet lavender for violet-hued hair, white silver for yellow-tinted hair, and three shampoos for other colors—colal red for reddish hair, saffron copper for copper-hued hair, and cocoa brown for women with brown hair.
The shampoo is simple to use because it doesn’t eat into the skin and can be applied without gloves. Reviews indicate that it does not significantly dry out the length, which is not surprising given that sodium laureth sulfate is the surfactant in this case. It tones nicely as well, though the hair may lie in patches on porous or unevenly colored hair. This shampoo should only be used once a week; it is not meant to be used every day.
300 ml for about 1,300 p.
Insight Incolor Anti-Yellow shampoo
Strong toning action of this anti-yellow shampoo balances out yellowness. Dries hair, just like all toning shampoos. Sodium Coceth Sulfate is a product of soft surfactants. Reviews claim that the product is completely self-sufficient and that you can use it without first washing your hair with regular shampoo. You require follow-up care after using.
Cost for 400 ml is about 1400 rubles.
Cutrin Aurora color care
Cutrin has created three distinct shampoos to cater to varying shades of blonde hair: rose shampoo is meant for pink hair, silver shampoo is meant for silver hair, and pearl shampoo is meant for pearl hair.
Reviews claim that while the products do a perfect job of giving hair the desired shade, they do not adequately wash the scalp. This leads to the following conclusion: it’s best to wash your hair with your regular shampoo before using any of the Aurora line’s shampoos.
Even though the product does a good job of fully covering the hair in color, this type of toning is transient. Blondes who regularly use it, however, have noticed that the color lasts longer on their hair the longer you apply it. Shampoo containing sodium laureth sulfate, a traditional surfactant.
Price for 250 ml is about 1100 rubles.
Londa Toneplex pearl blonde shampoo
The only shade of Londa shampoo available is "Pearl Blond." The product works well for toning; it gives recently dyed hair a cool, even shade free of spots and stripes and extends the color’s longevity despite being fairly thin and lacking in pigment. Warm blonde probably won’t work with it. Because the shampoo contains sodium laureth sulfate, it dries out hair.
Price for 250 ml is about 1000 rubles.
Tinted masks not included in the previous post
In the first post, you can read about the principle of action, the advantages and disadvantages of the method, and some of the nuances of use.
Togethair Color Hair Mask
There are ten distinct colors in this mask, ranging from natural to vivid and eye-catching. Many girls comment on the bottle’s overall convenience, low consumption, and great consistency, in addition to the dispenser’s ease of use.
The anti-yellow mask has great toning qualities; it successfully combats yellowness and produces a much cooler shade. The air conditioner can be used "after" to address the issue of dry hair, but the truth handles the rather poorly.
The mask tint’s other colors are not any worse. Another big plus is that this tinting has above-average durability.
Cost for 200 ml is about 3400 rubles.

Moroccanoil Color Depositing Mask
The product comes in a limited selection of colors—just seven. Reviews from girls on the network and the original tinting post claim that it colors the palms even though gloves are not included. Hair is nicely tinted, but the color fades quickly. Many people expected the mask to have luxurious caring qualities given its price, but sadly, it is only a strong average—it nourishes and moisturizes but doesn’t dry out either. There are reports that the product accepts gray hair.
Price ~3000 rubles. for 200 ml.
Joico Color Intensity Care Butter
There are six colors for the toning mask, the majority of which are vibrant. Although the product has a relatively small volume, users have noticed the low consumption. You can dilute the mask with a regular rinse-off product to achieve a more pastel color or to cut down on usage. Based on reviews, the mask lasts for three to four washes and precisely adds a shade to the hair. Option 5+: to keep the color consistent in between salon tonings. Shiny and soft hair after toning.
It costs about 2700 rubles for 177 ml.
Schwarzkopf Chroma ID Bonding Color Mask
I want to start by mentioning the manufacturer’s claims. "Bonding technology restores structural bonds inside the hair, making it stronger," the speaker assures. Toning rarely produces such a miracle, but you can still expect excellent color and good durability. Thirteen shades and a transparent dye are available in the line for mask diluting. The 500 ml volume is well-suited for prolonged use, with average consumption.
Some blondes have noticed that freshly dyed hair responds better to Chroma ID. I would say that you should start off with a cool color for this mask because it might not turn a clear yellow. However, this is a great option for keeping color in between tonings at the hairdresser.
Cost for 500 ml is about 2400 rubles.
Revlon Nutri Color Filters
Revlon’s tinting filters are an intriguing product. You will feel a little bit like a technologist when using this kind of toning because you will need to mix the mask’s future shade yourself. There aren’t many product reviews, but the ones that exist are overwhelmingly favorable. What they say: hair feels nice after use, tones brightly.
The Internet claims that the line contains 22 distinct shades, which you can mix to create that exact color. On the network, suggestions for combining the appropriate filters to achieve the desired color are freely accessible.
The controllability of the process is, in my opinion, the advantage of this toning method. You really do handle everything yourself! Are regular tonings too faded for your taste? Combine something nuclear! You don’t have enough "copper" in the coppery red color? Proceed as you please! The drawback is that not everyone will be able to combine anything they’d like. For these girls, a ready-made mixture is still preferable. You can use each filter on its own, if you’d like.
240 ml for about 2000 p.
Chi Ionic Color Illuminate
A conditioner from the same brand as the previously mentioned Chi shampoo. There are just seven items available. Blondes adore this tint conditioner because, according to quotes, it "makes blond cool" and "powerfully neutralizes yellowness." Girls advise against using the product for extended periods of time because you run the risk of "over-tinting" your hair blue or purple.
This color doesn’t stay in your hair; it comes off in two to three washes. While its caring qualities are mediocre, your hair is not dried out by it. However, there are also unfavorable product reviews, which you should read before settling in.
Cost: about 2000 RUR for 251 ml.
Tefia Color Mask
The line of toning masks comes in nine shades. Each of these masks has a relatively light pigment that works better for color maintenance than for completely toning. It has a mediocre tone and a transient color. However, a lot of girls mentioned how great the product was for caring for them. Poorly neutralizing yellowness.
Cost for 250 ml is about 2000 RUR.
- Hit parade-20: the twenty reddest direct-action pigments that have passed through my hair Author HellerOst
Kaaral Colorefresh by Baco
Kaaral developed a tint conditioner in six colors after considering girls with dark and red hair in addition to blondes. The product found its audience despite having a limited shade range, and as is often the case with toning, blondes ended up being them. Blondes love this conditioner because it gently tones hair, maintains it well, is reasonably priced, and has a reasonable consumption.
175 ml for about 1000 rubles.
Wella Color Fresh
Everyone will select a tinted mask according to their preference from seven calming and five vibrant shades. The mask has a captivating design and comes in a supple tube. Reviews for this Wella series are conflicting; some people think it’s fantastic, while others didn’t even notice the outcome. Consider that the product leaves a strong stain on the hands that is challenging to remove.
According to the manufacturer, the mask is silicone-free, so even followers of the traditional KGM can wear it. Others point out that if the mask is porous, it may cause the hair to tone unevenly. Bright colors give a brighter color; classic colors give a dull light shade. However, do not expect the fuchsia-pink color to show up as brightly on light brown hair as it will on bleached hair.
The product has C-grade caring qualities but lacks nutrition and moisturizing. Depending on the shade, it is removed from hair in a different way; generally, it takes three to five head washes.
Cost for 150 ml is about 1800 RUR.
Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Toning Conditioner
Two shades of tinting conditioner are available for blondes: purple reign for ash and gray tones and ice white to balance yellow tones. The pigment is not highly saturated in either conditioner; in purple reign, it is more blue, and in ice white, it is more purple.
The product is receiving more negative reviews. Girls report that while the conditioner completely eliminates yellowness, it tones unevenly and shows no discernible effect. The shampoo from the same series is preferred by a lot of people.
Reviews claim that the line also includes a mask that tones more effectively, but it isn’t sold in Russia.
Price per 250 ml: about 800 RUR.
John Frieda
In the line above, I discussed shampoos for blondes and brunettes. Compared to shampoos, the balms proved to be even less satisfactory. I used to have dark hair and used the product meant for brunettes. All I can say is that there was no toning effect at all, the smell is repulsive, the caring properties are poor, and the consumption is high. I stopped looking at the brand after using the conditioner and forgot about it. There are far better products available for the same thousand dollars.
Price for 250 ml is about 1100 rubles.
Mousses: coloring and toning
Tinting mousse Schwarzkopf Igora Expert Mousse
Mousse is an intriguing form of tinting product. The line includes thirteen shades. The manufacturer claims that it should function on the basis of direct pigmentation; however, ethanolamine, an ammonia derivative, is present in the composition, if you believe what you read online, and this should still allow the cuticle to open and allow pigment to seep inside.
The bottle is essentially the same as a standard mousse without coloring; inside is a finished product that is compressed. Rather than thick and sticky, the foam is lush and airy. Even though the colors are not as pigmented as traditional toning products like masks and shampoos, they still color the hands. Because it doesn’t dry out the hair and subtly neutralizes yellowness for three to four washes, this product is incredibly beloved by blondes. The product is consumed in large quantities.
Schwarzkopf Perfect Mousse
This product markets itself as a dye rather than a toning agent. Even so, I’ll keep it in the mix because a lot of girls have used it to successfully tint their hair. The composition includes ethanolamine, just like the mousse mentioned above.
There are up to 20 colors available, so there is a large selection. The product is very popular as evidenced by the large number of reviews available online. They are all very different, of course. The majority of the glowing recommendations come from girls with dark hair, and they are thrilled.
I can tell from my experience toning dark hair, even with ammonia paint on a high oxide (due to ignorance), that dark hair, for the most part, is resilient and initially shines spiky and gratefully regardless of what is done to it. then it starts to dry out completely, but this has nothing to do with what was previously said, does it? What color, too! But why harm your hair when you can use softer products to tint it without making it worse? Although I still do not advise this technique for tinting, I have already made this decision.
It’s critical to comprehend the range of options available and how each may affect your hair when selecting hair toning products. Shampoos range from semi-permanent to demi-permanent and even color-depositing; the benefits of each product vary based on your hair type and desired outcome. You can find the ideal toner to achieve the ideal shade and keep your hair looking vibrant and healthy by following this guide, which will assist you in navigating these options.
Shot Fluid Doving L"Oreal Professionnel Power Mix Shots Liss Series Expert
A fascinating little detail that I personally only discovered from the comments on the previous post. additionally employs the direct pigments principle. The producer has an abundance of shots, with a wide range of colors available for both redheads and blondes (brunettes, however, were deprived). According to the manufacturer, this tool must be used within a year after being combined with a mask (the proportion is not specified).
The mask lays down fairly smoothly; the uniformity of color will only depend on how you distribute it with a fluid. Not perfectly, but very well tinted. Red and red-haired people support the brightness of the color, while blondes truly neutralize unwanted shades and give the desired color. wiped clean for three to four washings.
Direct action pigments, not included in the previous post
Barex Superplex Uniblend Pure Pigments
A product that is strikingly similar to Selective Professional, which is detailed below. The manufacturer states that the pigment concentration in this direct-action dye, which comes in a bottle with a pipette, is higher than that of ordinary pigments. Additionally offered in six standard colors and intended for blending.
For a more pastel color, you can add to the masks or even dilute the pigment with water (which is crucial for blondes who prefer a cool color). Vibrant tints that maintain their color well. Although I am unable to comment on getting stuck, it appears that it is a possibility.
Price for 50 ml is about 3500 rubles.
Selective Professional Extra Concentrated Pure Pigments
Seven colors of pure pigment. While all colors are basic and meant to be combined to create classic shades, using pure pigments is also acceptable. It can be added to masks; this seems like the most sensible approach.
Regretfully, there aren’t any online reviews available for this product. It should be excellent, in my opinion. In any case, I haven’t yet discovered any comparable goods. Though the cost is high, I would be very interested in giving it a try. Girls, perhaps someone has given it a try already? Please write a comment; I would appreciate it!
80 ml for about 3000 RUR.
Keen Neo Colour
The six fundamental colors in the Keen dye palette can be applied pure or combined. There are very few online reviews and none at all for this pigment, indicating its lack of popularity. I shall therefore begin with what is present. The product has a vibrant color and is highly concentrated. applies uniformly. long-lasting, evenly washable, and stain-free.
Cost: about 2200 RUR for 300 ml.
Manic Panic
Bright hair pigments are Manic Panic’s specialty; the company offers up to 44 balms in various colors and saturations. Manic Panic is a bright hair lover’s paradise!
Girls adore it because of its vibrant, rich colors, ease of application, good removal, and lack of requirement for specialized training or expertise. There are benefits and drawbacks to the product’s lackluster durability. Even though the dye is well-liked overseas, it is far simpler to obtain in Russia than it is in IroIro.
Price ~2000 rubles. for 118 ml.

IroIro
A direct pigment that is well-liked by experts in color coloring. Thirty PP, both bright and not so bright, and one transparent pigment for color dilution are among the manufacturer’s enormous selection.
In summary, the colors are vivid and retain their color for a fair amount of time. However, some of the shades tend to stick to your hair, and the color fades smoothly into the base. The dye has subtle application instructions, and obtaining it can be challenging. Although useful, the dye is not required for use at home.
Currently, 236 ml for about 1400 p.

Matrix Socolor Cult
A range of 14 dyes in a direct action pigment line. In certain circles, the dye is fairly well-liked; many girls adore it. Toning produces a rich, juicy color with incredible durability.
Nonetheless, certain colors—especially purple, blue, and fuchsia—are highly adherent to the hair; if you intend to lighten your hair further, take caution. Additionally, the brand’s technologies don’t suggest Utilize the dye at home. There are dyes that are not compliant with regulations, such as non-compliant dyes, non-permanent dyes, and non-permanent dyeing agents. Furthermore, PP causes severe pain to towels and skin.
Cost: about 1,200 PHP for 118 ml.
Londa Professional Color Switch
Direct pigment comes in a metal container with a screw-on lid, where it is packaged to look like paint. It looks convincing, but blending with oxide is not necessary.
It is accurate to say that the color endures for up to 20 washings, as the pigment is long-lasting and can last a very long time with the right maintenance. After usage, hair is vibrant, shiny, and full of color. It is possible to blend pigments together to create new hues. The line consists of one transparent pigment for dilution and seven vibrant, multicolored pigments.
Cost for 60 ml is about 1000 rubles.
Kapous Professional Rainbow
There is one colorless product in the line and seven products for toning vibrant colors. When applied, the dye itself is not overly thick, but it is incredibly juicy and rich, and it doesn’t run down the hair. Although the product cannot claim to be durable, this is a benefit for people who frequently change the color of their hair. The choice of tone will determine the outcome; many people like red and orange tones and dislike purple because they believe it lays down and washes out unevenly. When lightning strikes, hair dye does not stick to the hair, as girls write.
Price for 150 ml is about 700 rubles.
