A setup from a favorite brand: what happened to Discipline shampoo?

A lot of people who want their hair to be manageable and smooth have been turning to discipline shampoo. It’s one of those products that most people rely on to control frizz and keep their hair in check. However, there has recently been talk of modifications to the recipe, packaging, and overall experience.

Several devoted followers have reported variations in the way their hair reacts to the latest version, raising concerns about whether the company has changed its strategy. Popular brands frequently make formula adjustments over time, and Discipline shampoo appears to be one of those brands.

If you’re still a fan of the brand, let’s examine more closely at what’s changed, how it affects your hair, and what you can anticipate. Has it progressed or regressed? We’ll investigate the specifics.

What it was like in 2025–2025

I gave it a try in 2019 and everything vanished. Really, though. It was the most fragrant, best, and ideal shampoo. After about two years of buying it, I got bored with it and moved on to other products.

Thus, "in a previous life," I cherished this shampoo so much that I preserved my affection for it in two posts on hairmaniac.

  • Totally delighted – first impressions.
  • Conscious love, time-tested.

New bottle released in 2025

I chose to do my favorite again at the end of the previous year. It’s flawless! I purchase a liter for two with my friend. I purchased I.

I was first concerned that there wasn’t a sulfate option. Generally speaking, like he had dropped through the earth. There were formerly two distinct disciplines: one that used sulfates and the other that did not. That being said, I believe the sulfate one was likely removed. S.k.a. the smoothing shampoo—they chose to retain only a gentler formula.

We purchase this liter. I fill my old bottle from beneath the completed Discipline, confident that it is identical to what I have always had, without checking the new bottle’s composition.

Still, it’s not the same shampoo. It isn’t equivalent.

What can and cannot be done by modern Discipline

This shampoo has been in my cabinet for approximately nine months, and it hasn’t run out despite my not reaching for it. Tomatoes have withered, love has faded.

For the purpose of objectivity, it still holds a special place in my heart and is superior to other foamy brands in a number of ways.

  1. The foam is very thick, cap-like, fragrant, soft. Washing your hair with shampoo-bath is a pleasure. No matter how much I try other shampoos – I always return to Kerastasis.
  2. One wash is enough. My scalp tends to be oily and sensitive. That"s why it"s important for me that the shampoo washes and foams from the first use.
  3. Hair remains loose, It has volume at the roots. Doesn"t weigh it down, doesn"t accumulate. Hair is easy to style.
  4. It doesn"t dry out the ends, The composition is rich, full of conditioning components, amino acids + Contains ceramides.
  5. Very economical.
  1. Not suitable for very damaged and porous hair. Alas, mine are like that now and the shampoo has become disappointing.
  2. Doesn"t smooth out hair and doesn"t add extra shine.

Aroma

Still excellent. Comforting, calming flower. Greenery with a hint of sourness. Powdery, soft and enveloping. The powder gives it a more "mature" appearance. It’s similar to a boudoir. Generally speaking, picture yourself as an easygoing actress in your own dressing room or as a princess from the previous century. 129694;

The perfume Peut-Être Lancôme, created by the renowned perfumer Nathalie Lorson, is not the only scent visible in the picture. I’ve been looking for a perfume that smells as close to the Disciplines series as possible, and I’ve finally found it! This is it if you are familiar with Peut-ising 2008.V. or 2020! The shampoo smells a little fresher because there isn’t any greenery at all in the perfume. What ties them together, though, is a ton of delicately pood rose petals.

Since this shampoo performs a variety of tasks, I can classify it as multifunctional. But if I like masks that have these qualities, I like shampoos that either nourish or repair my hair, or give it body and volume.

Due to its formula that smoothes and tames frizz, discipline shampoo was once a favorite among many; however, users wonder if it’s still as effective. This article examines the changes made to the latest version, possible reasons for the change, and if it’s still worthwhile to incorporate into your haircare regimen.

Comparison in the table

Comparison criteria Discipline then Discipline now
Texture Creamy medium thickness Creamy thick
Aroma Powdery rose with greenery Powdery rose with greenery
Foaming Strong, like other Kerastase Very strong
Economical Low consumption Low consumption
Effect Ideal smoothness from the roots, it is possible to digest with constant use without alternation No more perfect smoothness, works for good volume, but the shampoo stopped accumulating without alternation.

Comparison of compositions

Here, I made a mental error. The compositions are the same! Check it out for yourself. My copy of 2019 and the most "fresh" of 2022 are shown in the picture.

However, the shampoos aren’t the same. At all, how is it going? Though nothing changed, is something different? What a shame, I went crazy! (c)

Once a popular choice, discipline shampoo has experienced some changes that have users wondering. Although the smoothing and anti-frizz properties are still promised, some users have observed marginal variations in the product’s performance. The product’s main objective is still met, even though these changes may be the result of brand decisions to enhance ingredients or adhere to new laws.

It’s worth trying the updated version of Discipline shampoo if you enjoyed the original to see if it still meets your hair care needs. Occasionally, minor adjustments can yield greater outcomes, even though they require some getting used to.

Hair care is ultimately a personal choice, so what works for one person may not work for another. Reading reviews, doing a personal test, and observing how the shampoo behaves with your particular hair type and styling regimen are all wise decisions.
