1 Sebum-regulating mask for oily skin and hair
Compared to previous recipes, this one required a lot more ingredients. Naturally, I also couldn’t live without my preferred Ayurvedic powders!
Even though avocados are relatively high in fat, an appropriately proportioned mask that includes them will effectively address the issue of oily hair. You can model the recipe appropriately to meet your needs. My selection of the best herbal powders is based on my own experience, as I have already thoroughly studied the needs of my skin and hair and am aware of how different powders interact with them.
Ingredients:
Avocado (you’ll need the pulp of half or a whole fruit, peeled, pitted, and crushed, depending on the thickness and length of your hair), Henna without color (Ziziphus, Cassia, Amla). Ziziphus gives a good consistency and gets rid of extra oiliness, which is why I chose it. 3-5 drops of peppermint essential oil, 1 yolk, nettle decoction or water needed to combine all the active ingredients and give the mask its plasticity, and ginger or cinnamon, which stimulate blood flow.
The yolk contributes more viscosity and softens nicely. It will be difficult to apply the mask if the fruit is not firm and is not ripe. Using a blender to combine and grind all the ingredients is the best option.
And apply the mask right away, without having to wait for the infusion. If not, the avocado pulp will become harder, darker, and more oxidized. You shouldn’t freeze the leftovers or prepare it ahead of time for the same reason.
Applying the mask to the hair becomes more challenging the thicker it gets. Naturally, a lot relies on the specific recipe. Because natural oils (like butter), some Ayurvedic powders (like fenugreek and ziziphus), yolk, honey, herbal infusions (like flax seeds), and active ingredients (like glycerin and panthenol) contribute to improved consistency and retention on the skin and hair. Still, I advise against making it overly liquid because your head will start to swim. Any herbal compositions can be applied and distributed more quickly and easily with the use of a hairdressing brush.
I only covered the roots of my hair with the mask instead of the entire length. My hair was meant to get more volume and the extra oil removed by my mask.
I decided to wash it off after about 30 to 40 minutes of housework, but the mask held up really well during that time. Although it rinses out rather quickly, it’s best to take your time and comb your hair under running water to ensure that all of the pulp is gone. Remember that you will need shampoo after using the avocado mask if you choose to use natural oils in it.
Results:
Even very good, actually! From the roots, my hair came out soft and full. I relished the feeling of regularity and freshness until the evening. However, the hair lacked the typical stiffness that results from utilizing only herbal powders. They softened and became more agreeable.
